I cannot believe people are bringing up rug rats as the origin of that saying. I feel freaking old

How about "frA-jil".
Indeed, but my dialect says otherwise.Originally posted by: C'DaleRider
The "J" sound is in the first syllable, not the second.Originally posted by: GtPrOjEcTX

Yeah. I just mean.. the movie "A Christmas Story" has a similar scene(when he gets the hideous leg-lamp that he won), and the movie is older than RR, and pretty damn well known, so.. ya know.. lolOriginally posted by: KraziKid

Actually, I think it's from "A Christmas Story".Originally posted by: KraziKid
Fra-geel-ey (if anyone watched rug rats as a child, they would get that).
I'm 100% sure it was from the rug rats. I think it was when the Carmine's (Or Carmichaels?) moved in (or out was it?). As you can see, my memory isn't good with the name, but I am 100 % sure it was from rug rats. The guy tries to read fragile, and pronounces it fra-geel-ey, and drops the box with glass in it.
Not sure if that was the first movie that had the joke in it, but I'm pretty sure it dates Rug Rats.

Hrmmm. I dunno. All I know is I heard it in Rug Rats, and it is one of the few things that has stuck in my head for that long of a time.
I'm sure it's a classic comic scene thats been used in quite a few things.
I never saw "A Christmas Story" or if I did I don't remember.

I'm 17, thank you very much. I doubt there is one person here, who if Rug Rats was on TV when they were younger, didn't watch it.

In all seriousness, I pronounce it something like this: frA'-gil (using whatever notation you used).
