what about price and performance?

i'm leaning toward ati a bit at the moment for the promise of hardware accelerated video transcoding, which i do about as much as i game. but i'd like to see some numbers and nvidia's response first.

Generally I'll go with the performance/features I'm looking for, but I'll admit I can be swayed by the one that looks best in a skirt.

Yes, price and performance. I could care less about ATI versus Nvidia.

Price/performance.
Something that will be enough better than my current card, but won't break the bank.

price/performance. but generally i will stick with nvidia. i dislike ati's drivers. not that ati's cards are bad or anything, but really, those drivers are hopeless IMO.

Price/Performance FTW, that's what these forums were built on.

Anyone remember who the owner of CompuCheap is ?

These days I usually go for the fastest passively cooled card available.

Wow, me too. I look for the fastest card that still runs relatively cool with a PASSIVE heatsink. I can't stand any fans on my videocards. Always too loud from my experience. Right now, I have a Gigabyte Passively cooled 6600GT.

FYI Gigabyte also has a passively cooled X800 XL (which I've been running for about 5 months) and Asus has a passively cooled 7800 GT which I'll probably be upgrading to.

Heh, I have to admit I'm surprised I'm in the poll, and got two other votes!

Price/Performance. I perfer NV drivers but when it comes down to actually buying a card I just look at Price/Performance in the games that I typically play.

I go with performance first. I look at what I feel I need to do whatever gaming I need to do over the next year or two and then go from there. Nice thing is that it doesnt always require the highest end card to achieve it. Cost is important but I look at performance needs first.
