Poll:How do you arrange your CDROM and Burner

Just curious to how everyone stacks both of them in their PC tower and WHY they have it in that order?

I know a few People like to have the CD ROM on top, with the Burner underneath.

i have only a burner.never been a big fan of disc to disc burns....just image everything to the hd and then back to cdr

I can do disc-to-disc copy in five mins. Not that I do it much though. My friends do disc to disc burn on my computer more than I do.

Normally I'd have the CDROM (Drive G) on top of the Burner (Drive H) since I access the CDROM's tray more frequently than the burner. But with my new case the Burner was too long and wouldn't push in all the way before hitting the DIM slots on the MB when I tried putting it in the second bay. So now Drive H sits on top of Drive G.

The reason I ask is that I have just ordered a burner - Creative 40x24x10, and just finding out why people prefer one way or another - just curious.

I've got a QPS external USB burner 4x-2x-6x (yep, it's slow as hell, but it actually works pretty well if you can wait), that I move to different computers as I need them. I got this because I needed something at the time to work with my iMac and with my PC...

I have burner on top, SB Audigy Platinum drive bay in underneath, then have my DVD drive under that...

I like it that way, and wont change it! (use my burner more than my dvd drive...)

My IDE burner is on top. SCSI CD-ROM is under that. And my IDE DVD-ROM is under that. I'm not really sure why I chose this config. I have the DVD-ROM on the bottom because I use it the least. The CD-R and CD-ROM were together at one point because they were both SCSI, but I'm still not sure why I put the burner on top.

The CD-ROM holds the burner down to keep it from running away?

[*]Old ass Epson 3.5/5.25 combo floppy drive on top. I don't even know if the 5.25 section works, it's not even enabled in the BIOS. (Hey it came in the first computer I ever bought for myself, a used 486.)

The floppy is on top for easy access during those times you need to swap floppies, and the burner is at the bottom because it may be a few degrees warmer at the top of the case and I've read in the past that burners like to be cool.

hahaha, i removed my cd rom... its pointless when i have a burner it reads at 40x instead of my cd-rom's 52x... i'll take the speed hit

The way mine is set up is:

Burner
HDD with cooler
HDD with cooler
CD-rom


The first HDD with cooler also help keep the burner cool. I set it up this after having one of the drives out and I felt the bottom of the burner. It was pretty warm when I was just using it as a CD-rom so I figured a litle cooling couldn't hurt.

My burner is on top, DVD below it. Reason? Simple... i run my burner as the secondary master and DVD as secondary slave, and on a standard IDE cable, the master connector is at the end of the cable, and the slave connector in the middle. Therefore, it makes sense that the burner be on top, that way the IDE cable runs normally, without having to double back on itself....

board end connector --------------------------------> slave connector (DVD) ----------> master connector (burner).
