Since you didn't have options for USB2.0/Firewire drives, I responded to the poll only counting my laptop hard drive, which is 40 gigs IDE, almost always between 5-10gigs free. I have two USB2.0 drives, one 60GB and one 80GB, which I use for backups and extra storage. Those each have about 5 gigs free each. (5GB is like a magic number for me....I start to worry if a hard drive gets below that much free space)

80 gb raptor for me, still have >60 gig free because I formatted recently.

I never need more then 30 gigs or so because I backup to dvd-r and reformat every few months. Plus I don't download movies or anything that is really space intensive.

I forgot to mention, you can total up all of your PCs if you're in the mood. I'm crapping my pants at the percentage of people with >1 TB. That's the biggest statistic...

What do you store on all that? Got a OC3 internet?

A lot of it is backups from over the years. Other parts are sensitive data. Others are backups of games/applications, etc.

This Poll is screwed up. Free Space should be determined by percentage and not by gigabytes. ATA 100 is not listed as a specification. Untill the last 4 months the only ATA 133 drives avalable were made by Maxtor. Hitachi 7k250, All WD and Seagate Drives are ATA 100 (except for ones that came out in JUNE/July). If you are going to list 20 GB drives then you must include ATA 66,33,ETC that they run on and include Non DMA Drives. SCSI, Fibre Channel, and SAS are not reresented here. There is a whole lot missing from this POLL. Also needed is the Number of drives installed on the system and an extra 4 polls corisponding to each drive number: Example

If you have multiple drives set up in RAID then you only have one logical drive so you would only vote for the first drive and would not list any adtional drives. The POLL should be for logical drives only.

I refuse to vote in a poll where not every one is represented.

To answer your question: How big is your Disk? Mine is 3.5 inches.

I know the poll is kinda screwed which is why it's best for people to reply...I got some idea of the size of their hard disks. I'm talking desktop/home PCs this time, and I'm unaware of any SAS desktop drives.

80 GB WD SATA for boot & apps --> backed up by an older 80GB Maxtor PATA using ghost9.0 and a 200GB Seagate SATA for file storage

In that case, do you want to know it by disk, or by volume. Because I have 5x250 & 2x120gb disks, but 1TB volue and 2x120gb voumes...

300 GB + 74 GB

about 70% free space
not a total downloader, so i think 300 GB will really last me for half a life unless it decides to break down
