I'm planing on ordering some new ram either tonight or tomorrow. Searched all over here and hardforum for threads about people using both these brands. Neither one seems to be really better than the other from what I've seen. So before I make my final decision I figured I'd see what you guys though. Prices are within 5 bucks or so which means price doesn't matter. Basicly whatever I can get that will at least do 200 at cas2 with tight timings will make me happy. So which of these is a more surefire pick to run tight timings at and above 200? Thanks guys

I have (2) sticks of HyperX PC3500, and at 200MHz to get 2.0-2-2-6 timmings, I have to bump the voltage to 2.77volts on my 8RDA, but it will do it.

i could run 2-2-2-6 with my hyperX 3000

i'm sure you can run like 2-2-2-4 or even 2-2-2-3 with that hyperX 3500 @ 200 mhz

Well, I look at it this way, the twinmos uses the same winbond chips that corsair does. So I'm paying an extra 30 bucks or so for seven letters. Those letters aren't that important to me. And I've heard plenty of people rave about the Hyper X so those are my choices. Plus it would be nice to see at least a few systems that aren't using XMS :p

XMS = Way too overrated by people around here.
They are good sticks, but people swear by them too much. They've had probs with the 8RDA+ in the past, and are currently having probs with the Canterwood. Every company has their quirks. I'm not saying it's bad RAM, cuz it's some great stuff, but people around here need to get off the nuts.

Well, it might, but at 205MHz I got one error (Oh,crap!) running Memtest. But i'm finally getting to the point of not getting all worked up about that last little bit of benchmark performance, as long as it is stable.

XMS = eXtra Money Spent for nothing...

there's an ebay auction that sells generic pcb ram with winbond ... that's what i'm using... and it runs great! :)

I've had my Twinmos Winbond sticks up to DDR463(185 FSB, 3:4 mult, 8+ hours of Memtest86). At $110 for a stick of 512, you can't beat that.

Ok, I'd seen that guy before. He was over on hardforums also. I decided to pass though. The peice of mind if I had a problem with my ram was worth the couple bucks to me. That's just me at least.

I have the hyperz3000 too.

With your hyperX 3000 you reach 2-2-2-6, but do you have to elevate the volts???

WEll Twinmos and Corsair might use the same chips. But that does not mean diddly.
Look at Samsung type of memory. You can get a generic house brand type of memory with the absolute best type of Samsung chips. But if the PCB it is on is crap, the memory runs like crap.
I am not experienced enough to say Twinmos is crap as I never tried them. But can they run 2-2-2-7 @ 225FSB?
I do distributed computing and memory timings are very important to me in combo with FSB. Until I hear of a different brand that can run low latancy @ high fsb, Corsair will still be king for my use.
However I do build computers for people with different types of memory and they work fine.
