*Poll* Help me choose some new valve covers...

Ok, so I've already repainted the stock valve covers on my Mustang, and the paint is starting to degrade, so I've decided to splurge and pick up a set of FMS valve covers.

I've narrowed my choices down to 3 choices...which do you guys like?

Two of them are polished aluminum, and the third is a satin black. I like the look of the polished aluminum a bit better, but since it's a daily driver, I'm wondering how much TLC they will need to keep them looking good.

Here are the choices...

Polished Aluminum, Mustang logo

Polished Aluminum, Ford Racing logo

Satin Black, Ford Motorsport logo

I'm leaning toward the polished Ford Racing logo...

So, what do you guys think...poll added.

🙂

Edit:

Here's a pic of the old girl..

Once I get the motor cleaned up a bit more, I'll take some pics..

It's not super clean right now as I sort of took a year off from cleaning the motor like I always have. It's in good shape though with a GT40 intake, GT40X heads, and a few other things. It's not like show quality, since it's a daily driver, and I don't have any chrome in there. I'm not a real big fan of chrome, I would much rather have a silver powdercoat.

I'm just thinking that polished aluminum might look out of place unless other parts are polished or chrome. It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures just how polished the valve covers are though, so maybe not.

Just curious...why satin?

The raised and emphasized etching makes it stand out just right...not too much to draw attention to itself. the chrome is too flashy for such a small portion of the engine, assuming your engine compartment isn;t SPOTLESS.

Now, if your engine was Car-show clean, I would tell you that chrome would be an option.

my sentiments exactly

I may be upgrading my FMS 65mm Throttle Body and EGR spacer with this polished 70mm unit and this EGR Spacer That should blend well no?

I'm more concerned with how the valve covers will stand up to daily driver use, including driving in these New England winters.

Edit:

I did have the super tall polished motorsport covers on @ one time, but they weren't really for EFI, and I had to use a 1" phenolic spacer between the upper and lower intakes to make clearance. That later became problematic because BBK gave me a warped spacer, so it never sealed right.

Thanks guys...looks like black going to be the choice. It's pretty reasonable @ 150 for the kit with a polished oil fill cap....good ole Summit Racing. I'm doing some major cleanup and general overhaul under the hood this year, and I'll try to get some pic posted once it's done.

🙂
