I would be grateful if anyone can help me. I am arguing with verizon right now, they say everything is Ok. check the following two urls, one will give you a "page not found" and the other will give my splash page saying the site is down. if the following happens, let me know which is which.

Link #1
Link #2

thanks in advance.

thanks, thats what I am looking for, all my links are as follows,
home.gte.net/res06ckv, and when someone uses this url, one would think it would automatically find index.html, right? but if you plug in index.html on to the end of it, it loads up my splash saying the site is down. I tried other sites on gte.net, and noticed the same thing. I have never known a webserver that works like this, the worst part is, last weekend, suddenly, I got 404s, for my site, I hit the ftp, and found everything there. I have always used the link without the index.html, in search engines, links etc, and then in one weekend, it stops working? I tried with the techs at verizon, and first they asked if I had multiple sites, I told them yes, then they brushed me off, saying there is nothing in my directory, that I am probably uploading to the wrong site!! I explained that I uploaded my splash, and it comes up when you specify it,
and then he told me that was in my history (as if I am working offline!) I am supposed to be getting a call from a higher level tech tonite, and I wanted to make sure I am not crazy here. Maybe this tech can actually look at my directory and see that all the files are there.

try using default.htm or default.html. Just depends how the box is set-up. Really the tech could set it up to where your first page has to be named "Verizon_sucks.htm".

When you find out what the default\index name is, then both of your links will work.

This is exactly what I am trying to do. The tech says default is index.html, and I am not uploading files to the proper site. But, Lets say I was that dumb, how would I upload the "pants down" page? the next tech tells me its because I am using linux to browse, so, just to be a smartass, I inform him I used the win box with the same result, then I spank him with some tech info (put him in his place)and also tell him I had others try it, he tries to tell me- surprise, I am uploading to the wrong ftp. Just sucks. Time to take business elsewhere.
