Which LCD HDTV is this?

I just bought a 50" LCD RPTV for $2400 and it looks stunning. I know lots of people don't like LCDs and prefer DLPs but I have not seen a DLP that matches my LCD and I'm not just saying that because I own one. I was more than willing to spend more on the Samsung DLP if the picture was better but it wasn't.

my friend just got a 42" Sony Grand Wega III LCD, and I think it looks great. Only complaint is the black level, but the color and brightness is fantastic.

Has anyone seen Gateway's new DLP set?

I agree with the black level problem but to me it isn't detrimental.

I hear alot of good things about the 42" GW3 but I am totally anti-Sony after my 2 YO $2700 36XBR400 broke on me and Sony just blew me off. I used to be an all Sony household (except for audio) but I will never buy Sony again after the way they treated me.

A Plasma will look better when it is *set up properly* in a store that knows what it is doing. Not getting a feed that is spread to 5 or more screens.

This will be true to any tv. The contrasts and such are set high to attract you also.

Go to a nice Plasma store and don't get a cheap end one. The Panosonic for $3k is very sweet.

Not everything is about resolution.

The current and last gen ones are not plagued with problems as shown in studies and tests. They will last a solid 5-8+yrs easily. All depends on usage. It will fade over time of course like a CRT etc but can you 'really' notice it? How long have you had your tv for? Do you notice the fade? Probably not......
