Poll: Have you gotten the flu this season yet?

Miramonti

Lifer
I woke up with a bad sore throat this morning. :frown: Looks like I'm going to be another statistic.

Hopefully its not the flu but my colds usually don't start this way.

if you get into the doctor immediately, they can prescribe a few "preventative" meds. One that is pretty popular around here is amantadine. Initially used for Parkinson's disease, this also stops the flu virus from uncoating. The reason why I have preventative in quotes is that it really doesn't prevent the flu but rather slows the progress and usually diminishes the symptoms. The only knock is that you have to start the med within 48 hours of getting the symptoms

Maybe its cause you dont like America!!!!!:Q🙂😀

I haven't gotten the flu, but I currently have (and am being treated) for a bad ear infection. This is my first one in 1.5 years. Before then, I'd get them about 4 times/year.

...and I'm 25 years old. Stupid ear infections are supposed to be a problem during early childhood 🙁

me too. Now if the boy doesn't bring the bug home from PreSchool, and no one at Christmas parties are sick, I'm OK

Aww come on you know youre gonna get it from his Preschool. 😀
It never fails for us, son in 1st grade.
We get everything. Builds good immunity right?

I've gotten the flu *twice* this season already, and I usually don't get sick until january/february each winter, if at all. The worst part was getting horribly sick and then getting the same exact thing 4 weeks later. Being sick for 2+ weeks out of 5 is not my idea of fun 🙁
On a side-note: does anyone find it odd that the CDC is talking about epidemic levels of the flu in 20-something states of the U.S.? Call me a conspiracy theorist but I don't buy the line that "this happens almost every year". I don't recall ever hearing about epidemic levels of the flu the last 22 years of my life... I certainly don't remember any CDC press conferences about flus of epidemic proportions widespread throughout the country. I wonder what's next...

Hate to break it to most of you but the current shot being given has very little affect on the strain that is causing so many problems right now.

There are MANY different starins of flu, like aids, so taking a shot does not help UNLESS the shot you get is for the starin that is going around your area.

I thought about pursuing this route but couldn't get an appointment today and the doc is out tomorrow. If I feel crappy tomorrow morning I might call around for another.

Normally I try not to overreact on these things but it will suck to be sick over christmas.

Fluwatch has illinois in "epidemic" mode because of the flus around the chicago area.

wife had it, then the youngest daughter, she is getting better today after barfing all over the house yesterday

i felt funny a couple days, but didn't catch it for real, yet

Yes, about a week ago. This is the first time in at least 5+ years that I got it. Woke up at 7am sick, thought I was going to die most of the afternoon, then was almost normal by noon the next day.
