Saw my grandmother die four years ago.

Went to an open casket funeral today for an extended family member.

My youngest brother found my mom when she passed. It must have been so hard for him, but he's tough, and I'm proud of him.
I watched my mother die on our sofa from a stroke. I didn't know what was wrong and when I finally began to panic is was too late. For years I felt horrible guilt that I didn't do something sooner. It still upsets me when I think of it.

first dead body I ever saw was my mom's identical twin sister. I think that messed me up pretty badly. heh.

then in high school, I was stuck in a room with a dead priest for about an hour (not stuck-stuck, but it was an open casket funeral in the school chappel, and they requested that the chappel be attended full-time while school was in session. since I was a peer minister, I got the lucky duty of taking a shift of guard duty :-/ ). that was more weird than anything else. I barely knew the priest... He looked sorta like one of the wax figures that they have in Madame Tuassaudes.

i do not fear death like most people do but I do fear pain as it is very unpleasant and its like a living hell if you are ill, been badly injured. we're all going to die some day but just that some die young and some die much older due to natural causes so may as well not worry too much about it.

Had to do some work for a billable client of ours, a funeral home, and to get to the voice/data equipment you had to go through the "room" - you know, the one where they perform all of the postmortem work in preparation for funeral/burial. What's really eerie about the whole situation (besides the dead bodies there)? There was a giant box of clothes that was removed from the dead bodies, and beside that was another box that was full of dust. You get the point.....

Plenty.
One time I saw around 10 decapitate heads sitting in a sink, but that is normal for medical school.

I saw a dead body that just got pulled out the river from drowning when I was very young. Those images have haunted me since.

Yes -- hundreds of them. Not really awkward, they are not people, just the bodies people once housed.

i've dissected a few bodies in gross anatomy lab. A few patients died on me too. Then there were the resuscitation efforts. Hmmm. Lots of dead bodies.

Many times. Casket, morgue, accident scenes, ER, ICU, Nursing Homes. Mostly strangers, but some family too.

Worked security in the ER last year so I saw lots of dead bodies and the whole dying process many times. I don't want to sound cold but it isn't that big of a deal.
