I have actually played solitaire with real deck of cards. i was extremely bored with nothing to do at work so decided to try it.
its very annoying because hard to keep the decks and cards in order and it becomes a big mess.
lesson learned, use the only thing windows made good.

I played it before I knew there was a Microsoft.
Pyramid is the easiest, and cutthroat is the hardest.

Yes, quite often in fact. There are many solitare games which are better with a deck of cards, and many which are far better on a computer. It all deals with how many piles you need to keep straight.

Try this: dual solitare with a partner. Sit across from each other and play solitare like you normally would. The only difference is that you can put your 2 of spades on either your or your partner's A of spades in the discard piles. You can play to both win (which is easier than real solitare since you have more options). Or my favorite, play to win and force your partner to lose. Put a card on a discard pile that he/she really needed. Much more fun than computer solitare.

I play solitare with real cards all the time, more than I play on the computer.

Never heard of Nerts, but they look like similar games. The two player solitare was my own invention (probably others have invented it independantly though).

I play solitare with real cards, but I keep running out of tape to hold them to screen.

I was thinking the same thing. You can't play solitaire with a $1 deck of cards, it takes a $1500 computer.

Not until after I learned about it from windows... seriously. Though I was pretty young when I got my first pc, and had never heard of solitaire... I thought that it was invented for windows lol.

Yes and and when I won I used a 30,000 CFM fan that firefighters use to vent smoke from buildings to blow the cards down the table like the older versions (pre XP) did! It was about as fast as my 486-66 equipped with a Stealth 64VLB (4MB cost $400 in 1994!) did!

Now the cards come down in slow motion. All computers running XP drop the cards at the same speed (unless you're on some POS comprat with shared video) so it's not nearly as fun...

What are you going to ask next, have we played minesweeper with real mines? :p

Cheers!
