The only way to know that AOL sucks so much nuts is to actually have had an account. The only real way to know the true and vast amount of nut-suckage is to have either had an account or to have played with a computer that had AOL on it...
I had one for 9 months and got it all for free. It was a dial-up account when I needed it to be. Then I got something else.
Back when AOL was my only choice I was on it everyday. I still have an account, but I have not logged into it in over two years. I used to have to use it when I was my parents place, but I have since installed a cable modem with wireless internet there.
had aol for a very long time and still sort of have it today, in the form of a $10/month walmart connect account (operated by aol) so i can get access to all those numbers on the road.
i dont understand all the hatred for aol, sure they had a period of endless busy signals back when but they moved to fix it with reasonable speed - plus they invented the number #1 thing i use my computer for, instant messaging....without aol there is no way every single person in my high school would have im like they do now...i do like half my socializing on aim...
i had it for a week.
I was haggling over the price of a video card at compusa, and the manager finally said if i sign up for this free AOL trial, he'll knock $100 off of the card, so i signed up and canceled it the next day.
I had an AOL account way back in the early ?90s, before they were connected to the ?net and you had to use their BBS viewer. The only reason I joined was to read a forum on Area 51 and the Aurora.
