failing is bad... if you try really hard and cant do it, you are stupid. if you dont try one bit and fail, you are probably dumber than the first scenario since you could have prevented it. i know sht happens though external to school. i guess thats a good reason to fail. not like its a big deal though.

 
No shame in failing. Life happens. Marriages, jobs, etc tend to get in the way.

Don't stress over it. Really.

What you should do is sit down and try to figure out if there is any possible way that you can pass the course. Talk to the professor and see if there is any additional work you can make up for or whatnot. Ask if he will curve the grades for the class. Do the math yourself. Determine whether or not it is realistic that you can pass the class.

If absolutely not, then just forget about it and don't go anymore--waste of time. If it is possible to pass, then give it your all (I'm doing that now.. was certain i was going to fail but the tide has turned) and see what happens.

The only reason you should fail is if you didn't devote enough time to the thing. Don't think your dumb. Sometimes you just stretch yourself out too far.

BTW I've never failed a college class before (knock on wood). Then again I'm some asian kid who's been taught that failing is worse than death.

Azns aren't the only ones who are taught that. It is a ****** feeling if you fail though 🙁
 
I took a WF in Calc2 (4 hour course) changed from computer science to accounting and got out with a 3.6, worked my ass of though. It's not the end of the world as long as you're early enough in your program that you can bring it up, but you really have to work at it
 
Haven't made anything less than a B yet, and all A's for my major. I'm trying to get into the CS program at UT for grad school so I have to keep it up.
 
good luck. I would never have taken on so many activities at the same time. Not saying you did wrong, just saying I know I am incapable of doing so many things. For me, its tough enough to have school, hobbies, a girlfriend, and part time work. Marrage, moving, honeymoon, I would place as an impossibility if I wanted to try to be successful in everything I did.

Try talking to the professor. S/He may allow you to retake certain aspects of the course and rearrange your grade a bit. Math skills are easy to tune. You just practice practice practice. Do not rely on people doing examples for you. If there is a concept you do not grasp, just get someone to show you one example, then after 6hrs, try to redo the example on your own without the tutor with you. Practice Practice Practice, and good luck!

BTW, i have never failed any course in my life. Part of the reason is that I did not receive much financial aid and have been paying my way ~28k$ per year of my own money to fund my education (I dont believe in loans). Seeing the many possible BMW 328i get passed over for the sake of my funding education kind of forced me to ensure I did well in my coursework. The second I felt the course slip away, I immediately got help and did many additional practice problems.
 
I have never failed, but I have received a D before (which is damn well like failing) and I have withdrawn before.
 
I failed my Calculus III class freshman year. I really should have decided to retake it sooner because it's going to be a bitch taking it now.
 
nope, but I got 51% in one course, and 50% in another.

But I'm doing pretty badly in school this semester, so it could happen.
 
never. the lowest grade I ever got was C+ which I am retaking the course this sem.

well, it maybe a high probable that I will fail a graduate course. right now, I finished the midterm with a B-. doh, that's failing in grad school standard. I will have a take home final. hopefully, I can at least get a B from this class.
 
I failed a class. I completely blew off a online course to the point I screwed myself over.

I'll still graduate with a ~3.6 overall(across all colleges/universities, and not counting grade replacements), my graduating GPA will however be 3.8-3.9.
 
Yep, failed a sociology class once; a paper counted for 50% of my grade - I didn't write the paper. Oops. I'm just your typical loser/underachiever/lazy bastid, but my mom told me I was special.
 
I failed the same class twice, Directing the Narrative, what really sucks is the second time through I worked my ass off and actually did the projects, http://youtube.com/watch?v=9nCC_YABSu0 heres the video of my final. We were allowed a 5-10 minute piece, I did a 13 minute one. What REALLY blows is that the reason I failed was because my hard drive crashed that had all the paperwork on it that was due with the project. I was so pissed.
 
i just started going back. i haven't failed yet but i think i might be failing one geology class. yes think because i have not been back after we took our last midterm 3 weeks ago. i am going later today so we will see.

had to write a short 2 page explanation on cold rolling as part of coursework for "materials", and despite the lecturer, who was fluent in the worst form of engrish, putting ticks all over the bastard work i some how ended up getting like 2 out of 8 marks.

coupled with a dodgy performance in the exam for the same module i totalled 43% overall (39 is a fail)

i didnt get it at all, i went to see him and asked why, if there was ****** ticks all over my work and no comments/criticisms, did i score so badly?

he just flashed his ginger bastard teeth at me and said it was good work and that was it. ****** apple tosser.
 
It's not the end of the world to F a class unless you are going for one of the few careers that care about GPA. My current employer only cared if I graduated. I had to take the same Math class 3 times before I graduated but an employer has never asked me about failing classes. The only school questions I have ever been asked in an interview are school, major, type of degree, and sometimes GPA.
