POLL: have you ever boiled water and forgotten about it?

i've done it a few times. was boiling water to make hard boiled eggs and forgot about it.
an hour later when i went to the kitchen to get a drink, all the water was gone :Q

Same thing happened to my mom... according to my dad she forgot about it and the kettle melted.

Was going to fix some tea one day and got busy playing w/my daughter (who was about 2 or 3 at the time). Started smelling something and checked and the pot was emptyl DOH!

my friend actually did this

he boiled water to make instant noodles, then he went to sleep!!

the alarm went off.... and this was in an apart complex too

Damn, is your mom one of those people that thinks the burner has two settings -- off and ultra hot?

I had a roommate like that once. He could somehow set off the smoke detector boiling a full pot of water. 😕

Second try at a post, damn net errors...

I left a pot on the stove one time for about an hour or so. It had a Teflon interior and a painted exterior (dark green, not frilly or anything). I smelled something strange and ran back into the kitchen, and the Teflon had turned a powdery silver-white with the paint melted onto the burner, sticking the pot to it. That was fun.

I've left the stove on low overnight with refried beans on it. The next morning it kind of smelled like coffee.

a simple lapse in memory doesn't make someone a dumbass
