When, where and with what kind of weapon?

Seriously now, (I know all you NEF watchers are trigger happy!) I know with 45k members we have to have some vets here that have taken a hit or two! Please tell your story!

Cheers!

Speaking of bb guns...

I've had a BB in my leg since 1979.

They make one mad like teasing a dog from the other side of the fence!

Cheers!

When I was 5, I got shot in the backside by a moon traveler (bottle rocket) that my cousin broke the stick off of. That damn thing must have chased me for at least 10 seconds. Anyways it hurt like sh!t.:Q

Only hit with a bb gun on a few occasions but I have had a couple close calls with real bullets coming within a few feet.

I was on the roof of the World Trade Center here in Baltimore on January 01, 1995 for the light celebration.

You cannot stand too close to the edge because you can hear bullets whistling by! It's crazy how many guns go off in celebration of the New Year! I wonder how many cars get damaged from bullets that fall out of the sky.

I have a nice DAT recording and instead of it sounding like New Years' in an American City, it sounds like I was reporting from over in Iraq on January 18, 1991! Sirens, police helicopter, many, many firearms discharging at once! Ridiculous!

Cheers!

You guys haven't lived. I've had a 45 round pass through the outside of my left thigh. Here is the rest of my list of incidents.

Broken bones
R tibia X 2
R fibula X 2
R & L femur X 1
R clavical
R lower arm (whatever that is) X 2
R elbow X 1 (just a small one)
R wrist (scaffoid) X 1
R & L thumbs inside ball socket X 1
Fractured skull

fractured mandible
every finger at least once
every toe at least once

Right knee is completely rebuilt, but with all original parts.

I've been cut I've been stabbed and yes I've been shot at a few times but only hit by a friendly accident, figures.

Hey get out there and live a little, it'll change your life.

I'm 31 years old/young. yes this is true. No, I'm not handicapped or a DAV.

<< Are you Mr. Glass? DAV? >>

Look at his sig, it says "almost everything I say is a lie" the guy is obviously not telling the truth.

DAV stands for Disabled American Veteran.

I've been shot at, but never shot! My wonderful friends are to blame for my nearly getting shot!

I've been shot at, but never been shot. Someone broke into my house and discharged a .38 at me twice (missed by about 3 feet). I fired at him twice, missing the first time (it was very dark) and hit the second (shot him in the torso, two inches above and to the left of the navel). He dropped his weapon and I covered him while my wife called 911... He came out of it ok and was arrested and convicted of assault with a deadly weapon, armed burglery, and possesion of an illegal firearm (for a grand prize of 14 years).

Odd thing is, he sent me a letter a year later apologizing for what he'd done asking for my forgivness (I think it was part of his rehab program). I wrote him back saying that I absolutely forgave him, and that with some faith in God I hope that he can get his life back on track and that I'd been praying for him (I really had been). Now he's involved in prison ministry and writes me a couple times a year... I send him Christmas cards and letters of encouragement. It's an odd relationship, to say the least.

Anyway, the whole thing shook me up for months after, and I still have nightmares about it. But I wouldn't hesitate to do it again if I had to. Sometimes even the worst things in life can work out for good.

I do have a close friend (a bouncer) that was shot with a 12 gauge at 10-12 feet (luckily the assailant didn't know his ammo and was using shells intended for small game). He said it wasn't really that bad... not as bad as being knifed, which he'd had done to him a couple years before.

Well, I'm 33 and I think I've been around the block a few times as well:

I've been electrocuted (34,500 volts): both shoes knocked off and burned to the floor, thrown 25 feet into concrete wall. In a coma for three weeks. Doctors said it was a miracle because with all the burns over 1 AMPERE of current passed through my body!

In 1979 I inhaled about six curies of radioactive tritium gas when a RL source I was experimenting with ruptured!

In 1994 I was videographing a severe thunderstorm when lightning struck a building next to the one I was standing in. An arc about a foot long jumped from the aluminum doorframe I was standing under and jabbed me in the arm burning a nice pea sized hole near my left elbow. That took a while to heal. I was deafened by the thunderclap for a few hours as well.

In 1992 my hand was burned pretty bad by about 200 watts of reflected 10,600 nM laser radiation from a CO2 laser. By the time I jumped it was too late, deep skin damage that took a long time to heal!

That's just some of the (more dramatic) things that have happened to me in the past.

Cheers!
