I fell for the ILOVEYOU virus early one morning, before coffee. After I opened the attachment I was called away from my computer for ~15 minutes, and I had more than 1,000 copies of it in my Outbox when I came back. Not a fun day.

I've never really had many on my systems, but when I was the virus guy for a large insurance corporation I dealt with them constantly.

The Trojan broke once, and she threw it at me -- I ducked though.

I also was hit with ILOVEYOU since my dear old brother who is a damn programmer sent it to me one morning. It wiped out everything over four hard drives on two computers. :|

Otherwise, I did have another virus, but I can't recall which one now. Not sure how that one intruded itself -- no harm done, just replicated itself a little bit.

One time in my dial-up days I think someone planted a trojan on my PC (don't ask how I don't know) and took control of my PC and it wasn't PCanywhere. It was the most bizarre thing seeing my mouse moving around and the guy opening and closing my files.

I just had to pull the plug and fdisk everything.

Never found out what it was though. Funny thing was he hacked in over dial up.

On the first commercial PC that my folks ever bought...we got a deal because it was the floor model... Pack Bell 286/16.. we kept having this wierd problem.. in dos...whenever I was playing Starcontrol.. a blue box would appear in the middle of the screen. Not being to savy... we took it back thinking it was broken... but..being clever enough to take the software off of THAT computer and putting it on the brand new one they gave us at the same price... Gosh.. it did the same thing! Norton Antivirus 1.0 here we come. :] Turned out to be Jerusalem B.

Edit cuz I don't like the new smilies

There was a melissa variant that got sent to me 18 times from 5 people (my work address, public, and building. One person triggered it twice)

Another Jerusalem B. Boy that virus sucked. We had it on 19 of 20 computers in my school's lab.

Also, I've had:

Stoned
Monkey (B?)
ILOVEYOU

And no, I don't use a virus scanner ;) The virus scanners I've used have always caused too much trouble to be worth it for me. I haven't had any trouble since DOS/Win31 anyway (except for ILOVEYOU which I did NOT open) :)

I accidently opened prettypark .. and ofcourse sent it to everyone i knew ... grrr .. what an embarassing day ... after that I dont use outlook express .. I use a not very well known email checker that I doubt people would think of writing stuff for ... plus more careful of what I open as well ...

I just (over Thanksgiving) cleaned the .kak virus off my girlfriend's Compaq. She uses Outlook Express so it infected her through the signature of whoever sent it to her. I thought it was kind of nifty, but it didn't do anything to the system. McAfee (which came with it) didn't detect it at all, even after the update. I found it the system.ini and then downloaded the proggie to clean it.

I had prettypark a few months ago. My dad sent it to me, but I was checking my mail on his machine so his was the one infected. The irony of that has amused me for some time.
