Has your Western Digital Raptor gotten louder since you first turned it on?

I am looking into purchasing one, but if it is going to get louder and louder over time than maybe I don't want to.

Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

I?ve read threads at Storage Review where people have commented that HDDs get noisier with age (usage) - at least the ones with regular bearings.

The HDDs with FDB (fluid-dynamic-bearings) I image don?t suffer from this problem.

Considering that Raptors have only really been shipping in any kind of quantity for about a month, I don't know if it's reasonable to ask a "with age" question about them.

Maybe it isn't a definite statement of their noise a few years from now, I think it is still valid. I have heard many people say their WD hard drives have started squealing a few weeks after they bought them.

My SE sounds the same as when I got it. About a year old. Do those that get louder move their computer around a lot? Mines been in basically the same place. Only
moved to install/unistall hardware.
