POLL: Half-Life 2 - are you still having problems?

StageLeft

No Lifer
I want to buy this game, but the HL2 forums are just rife with bugs, and I'm not going to sit frustrated trying to get it to work!

This is in reference to the most recently patched version

Anyway, please answer the poll 😉

Just the sound stutter crap . . . . only when saving or loading levels.

The latest patch (and defragging my HD) helped.

I couldn't bear to drop resolution or details and just put up with the "stutter" . . . . my P4@3.31Ghz/ 9800xt/1GB PC3500 runs it well with excellent FPS (11x8/All details Hi/reflect ALL/2xAA/8xAF) . . . . just the very occasional crash to desktop . . . maybe once in (every) 2-4 hours of continuous play.

And i NO longer have ANY further problems as i have finished the game (this last wednesday) 😉

😀

it is a very (very) good game . . . the ending is a bit weak, but if you remember HL is a SERIES it begins to make sense. 😉

had no problems and have finished it twice .... what UR rig like skoorb ?? .... I have played it with all settings high with no AA or Aniso @1024 and 1280 .... on 1280 the sound stuttered when game auto saved and after a level loaded it sturtted for a couple of secs ...... rig is in the sig .... buy the game already 🙂

Aside from the way long load time the very first time while it downloaded the entire game (it felt like), I haven't had any problems at all.

I had a long load time between sections, but upgrading to dual channel mode helped cut that by 75%.

This is why I (almost) never buy anything that's just been released - too many weird issues. Granted, I did break down for Homeworld 2 and get that, but it didn't have too many major bugs; at least none that I experienced. AI quirks and weirdness, yes, but every game I've ever played has had issues with the AI.

no problems here, XP1700+, 1024MB SDRAM, SB Live Value, GeForce3 Ti200, Halflife 2 Retail Standard

as long as i diddnt use the latest nvidia drivers it worked great ( used 61.77 drivers )

installed the game, got online, got on steam, entered key, waited 2 hrs to decrypt ( im on 56k ), used all the max settings on the 'video' menu

just gotta connect online once to authenticate/decrypt, Steam offline mode works fine

the game played great with stuttering once in a while, and it only crashed two or three times total - i already beat the game

Did not have any problems till they released the patch to fix the stuttering. It has since cause all sorts of wierd lag.

You have a decent comp, with the vid card being the weak link - same vid card as I have, but otherwise a good comp. What res are you playing on, and how is the performance?

No problems here either...been working perfectly since I bought it off Steam on release day. However, I did buy the retail Collector's Edition for a friend for his birthday, and that's been interesting trying to get it to work...I'm not entirely sure if it's because he has a somewhat slower computer, or because of what seems to be a massive spyware infestation that we're still trying to get rid of, or a combination of the two...

Steam was down once, and the stutter stuff (didn't really consider it an issue, just assumed it was my system).

I cant even install the game. I begin install, it appears to be working, progress bar going then it hangs. My HD and cd drive lights are on but nothing is happening. I wait like 20 mins and nothing, never prompts me for disk 2. Any ideas? Beginning to think i have bad software...

Had a OCed P4 setup, game ran fine, beat it. A little stuttering.

Switched to a stock FX-53, and I get the infamous "memory can not be read" error constantly. Can't play more then 15-20 minutes before I crash.

Waiting on some sort of patch before I get too pissed.
