My nod goes to The Carol Burnett Show. Honorable mention to In Living Color, SCTV and Mad TV.

I surprised myself by not giving SNL an honorable mention but I haven't watched the show since the 80s. I guess I'm not the demographic anymore ...

It was groundbreaking TV when it first came out in '75 and there was a lot of talent, both on the acting and writing side, it's been hit or miss, mostly miss since the early years, sadly NBC lock's up old SNL material like fort Knox and generations will never know the genius of John Belushi..

For me, Chappelle's Show for sure. 99% consistently hilarious. SNL has had some funny moments but not nearly as consistent as Chappelle's; the others I don't really have any experience watching.

"Dave, I didn't know you liked to get wet."

3 years vs almost 40 years.

Lou, I'm not sure I agree with your police work...

heh, that was the first thing that came to mind as well--but I think he's asking about a sketch show, not a sketch from SNL.

You were right with Important Things with Demetri Martin. I loved that show.

Of course Python. Also loved who's line -

When SNL first came on, I was working Saturday nights. My friends would rave about that show. Every so often I'd have a Saturday night off, so I would watch the thing. And I hated it. Friends would tell me "Oh. its uneven, sometimes it sucks, but when it's great it's awesome. I finally got to see some of the good shows. Haven't watched it in many years.

Carol Burnett? Some excellent bits and pieces, but nothing I'd watch on purpose.

Different tastes.
