Not anymore it is. I just voted! To me, they are both the same thing, just depends on the game you play.

There is no doubt in my mind the X1800XT 512MB RETAIL for $236 (AR + $50 iloveati "coupon") is a far better deal than a $300+ 7900GT.

Yes, that deal is what I'm considering..i keep hoping it will sell out so I won't be tempted..;)

I think it's the best deal I've seen in a while, but but but, with the x1900GT coming out, I expect the prices of the 7900GT, and x1900GT will drop to $250 or less, and that is my real dilemma, comparing those cards to the x1800xt, they're all probably very close.

But I kinda like the 512mb of ram on the x1800xt, seems like it might come in handy some day.

Unless you play alot of shader-heavy games, I'm gonna guesstimate the X1900GT will be slower than the X1800XT. You're talking 12pp/36ps 575/1200, vs. 16pp/16ps 625/1500. The X1800XT leads the way with memory bandwidth by far and in games that dont make much use of the extra shader power, will wipe the floor otherwise.

I'm also going to guesstimate the X1900GT will sell for around $300, and the X1800XT is being sold for such a low price to get rid of them so they wont be competition for the X1900GT when it arrives.

You advertise for ATI in your sig

You can get an overclocked 7900GT for $299 with a free copy of Tomb Raider. No rebate or coupon needed.

Not everyone plays Tomb Raider.

And no the coupon has NOT expired. Dont try to spread even more misinformation than usual. Thanks. The 512MB XT is much cheaper than any GT.

Yes, I do, and I'm proud of my support for ATI. All Hail ATI! All Hail Red! Down with the Green Monsters!

Not everyone pays taxes. In fact, only three states do? I added it to my cart yesterday, and its $300 +5 shipping, -$50 coupon, makes it $255 shipped. Making it MUCh cheaper than ANY 7900GT and with 512MB ram to boot.
But good try... ?
