I would rather have a bear skin rug than a gorilla skin rug, but in all seriousness, my 357 would likely take down a gorilla as long as 1 out of 7 of my rounds hit center mass.
A bear has a much lower chance of going down from 1 hit of a 357. Even if I hit it 2-3 times, it's much more likely able to kill me than a gorilla that was hit...

Anyhow, I'd prefer to minimize the risk, so I'd fight the gorilla rather than the grizzly bear.

Ever fired one? I have. :awe:
I haven't fired the 500, but the 44 mag's that I've fired were hard enough to control ...
I'll stick with my nice little 357, sure, it isn't a fvcking battleship style cannon like the 500, but I'm much more likely to hit something with the 357 ...

what weapon would that be? Anything short of a bullet to the head/heart isn't going to slow them down fast enough to stop from ripping your head off and/or gutting you with claws.

Short barreled 12ga. shotgun with 3 inch forsters slugs.

Gorilla. Since we evolved from apes, he might go easy on the ass whipping.

Gorilla, for the ever so small chance that it recognizes something familiar in me and decides to stop long enough for me to get away. By familiar I mean evolutionarily.

You mean a foster slug? For 500lbs of rip me apart, I think I'd rather have something a little more solid and penetrating like a brenneke or just solid steel slug. In a semi-auto.

EDIT: Even better if its a saiga 12 with a 20 round drum mag.

Gorilla obviously. First of all Silverbacks are intelligent and you might actually be able to "reason" with it to a certain extent to hopefully avoid a fight altogether.

And if he did attack you, you might survive it. Grizzly would maul you in no time flat.

Actually grizzles eat mostly berry's and nuts, and then fish would be the only meat they eat. Mostly.

Silverbacks probably eat a bit of meat as well.

lmao! please tell me how you would reason with a gorilla? this should be good.

Some guy near where I live killed a bear with .22 rifle just shooting into the bushes. no idea what kind or how big it was though.

it would be good to know why the animal is pissed off also.

I'd choose the gorilla cause I could maybe talk my way out of it with sign language. They do all understand sign language... Don't they?:D

Do you have to fight either one? Or is it just a survival question?

A Grizzly could fuck up a Gorilla without breaking a sweat, but a Grizzly will generally leave you alone if you completely submit and play dead, so there's a greater chance of actually surviving a Grizzly if you're not goading it on.

lol Voted for El Bruin, the gorilla hasn't any feats or accounts to go by, statistically the bear stacks up above the monkey; better weapons, stronger, faster.

A large chimp will probably offer more fight than the average 350 pound gorilla. I'd even back a sloth or himalayin bear against a silver back.
