POLL: Good sound, small screen or good screen, crappy sound?

Actually, I'm not either way (which is why I took the time to make a poll, smart guy). However, nobody's really given me a VALID reason either way -only half-assed sloppy reasons why this-or-that. I didn't want to wait, there was beer to be drank, and my hearing suffers before my vision does when I drink, so I watched it on the TV.

I'm extremely picky when it comes to movies. Well, I'll watch a movie almost anywhere so maybe I'm just whiny. Viper GTS says hooking these speakers up to my TV shouldn't be a problem, and I'd probably orgasm if I could. However, I haven't figured out how to yet.

I'm watching movies on my PS2 that's connected to the TV via component. Those component cables have a right/left audio only, but I have a digital decoder around here somewhere that I might be able to connect the PS2 and speakers with. I dunno... I'll figure it out later, but it'll be sex. 😀

The way you've answered 2 of the posts advocating video were replied to with snide, childish remarks. If you didn't have a bug up your arse or hadn't already made up your mind on which to watch it on, you would've taken them for the actual value the represent.

Right, because 2-speaker stereo is practically the same thing as 500 watts of 5.1 surround.

#1 its not actually 500 watts

#2 I didn't find Sin City that great of a 5.1 sound test

#3 To a certain point picture > sound IMO.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed. But then again, it IS Nik....Snide, childish remarks are his specialty.

Meh, if they had any value, I would have honored it. 😛 It's one thing to vote in the poll. It's another thing to say "It's visual, not audial" which is completely bullsh|t. Movies with crap audio or audio that doesn't match or engulf the viewer in the moment miserably fail.

I'm big on audio. Dare I say that audio is more important than the video aspect of a movie entirely. However, without video, all you have is a laugh track or a series of cheap sound effects. This is why I was torn.

A movie that's based on a graphic novel is guaranteed to be visually tantalizing. However, is that taunt enough to break me away from my grip on audio being superior? AT needs a nail-biting nervous indecisive emoticon. 😀

Now THAT (bold) is a valid reason not to bother with the 5.1 that should have been stated earlier.

It sounds like you already made your mind up. Why are you asking then?

I only said the bigger TV because I consider 19 in. quite small. Both audio and video are important. I favor audio once video has gotten past the 24" mark or so. Especially on a non-near field system. However, seeing as it's a made-for-computer system, I favor the video as 19->27" is a very significant increase.

Most of the movie is dialog, and I don't think the explosions were that impressive.

I DIDN'T have my mind up, goddamnit. That's why I ****** asked. Christ. How many times do I have to say it?

I only have to say that it's too bad you're offering good advice only now, after I've already watched the movie. 😛

Anyway, you'll make your decision based on screen size (versus audio) until you get to the 24" mark, then it's based on audio? Interesting concept. Mos def something for me to ponder!

I'd rather watch a movie on a smaller screen with good sound. I can't stand watching a movie on tv speakers... it just doesn't draw you into the movie. You might as well be watching something on cable tv.

well ya. Would you want to watch a movie in 5.1 on a 5" color screen? lol. Video is important too. Did you like it?

I always watch movies on a 19" screen, I'm used to it. Then again, Sin City doesn't need big speakers. It's mostly diaologue, just stick to the bigger screen.

I seem to remember an action scene or two...
