[POLL] - gone wireless yet ?

I finally made the switch since $40 for a wirelessG bundle was too good to pass up.

Honestly though, you need a good laptop battery life to really take advantage. My 2-year old battery (work supplied) lasts only an hour these days. 🙁

My house is Wireless-G, but I need a new phone, because it kills my wireless connection when I'm on the phone.

I am some sort of wireless moron. Whatever that encryption key is called... hrmm fill in the blank... anyway, I type in the code into my laptop as the 'key' and it still can't connect to the damn thing. As soon as I turn that security feature off it connects just fine. Argh.

I've had a wireless (802.11b) network installed in my house for about a year now.

Worth EVERY penny. 🙂

Try switching channels on the router or the phone.

Yes, I went to wireless G, It's pretty nice, except speeds do lack through walls a lot of the time. Still able to go about 1 MB/second through a lot of walls.

Only matters when you are swapping/streaming files between machines on the LAN. Cause the Internet still comes down at the same rate...

Seriously I knew nothing about it until I played around last night... took 15 minutes to figure it out... in the router settings... just create a key (and keep in mind the SSID)... then in your PC Card's settings... match that key (and SSID which is simply the name of your connection). That was all there was to it.

I have been sitting on a couch than a regular computer desk since feb. in fact, I don't even have a desk to use with my lappy.
my lappy battery > yours, I can easily get 3 hours out from the battery.

my laptop + wireless is great for bathroom.

Yah, it looks straight forward, it reads straight forward, etc. Maybe my router is jacked or something.

Can't. Its a Panasonic, so it uses "spread spectrum." It won't keep itself nicely to one channel.

then you are lying in your sig. 😉 I'm hoping to get my T40 from work soon... that should do it.

I'd get it, but I dont need it. Everything is wired already. When I move out of home, I will probably get it.

No wireless out here. Finally switched the internal network to gigabit, which is nice, and I have my doubts about the range and practicality of wireless LANs. I haven't even found a portable phone that works throughout the house yet.
