thing is, i really want a car with an auto start.....and you cant (technically) have an auto start on a manual. while i could just install it anyway....a friend of mine put his jeep through his garage b/c his wife parked it in gear.

maybe im just being a baby b/c its pretty cold here in NY and im jealous of everyones warm cars.

also to get manual its an extra $2.2k

what do you think?

Do I understand this right? Autostart means you remotely start your car to let it idle? That is - no offense - idiotic and irresponsible. You waste incredible amounts of gas (here that would be finable btw). why dont you get a vehicle heater. For those it doesnt matter if it is auto or stick...

not one single dealer withing 3 hours of NYC

and it costs 2 grand.......plus you have to drive for the same amount of time u use it otherwise ur battery goes to crap

While manual is fun to drive, I'm betting that the manual in the Saab will be no where near as fun as the manual in your GTO. I did the same thing when I got my TL. Thought oh I like driving manual so I'll get the TL in manual. I kinda wish I would have just got an auto.

Manual, manual , manual. My Brother in Law has a Saab 9-5 manual and it is quite fun to drive...although I'd probably go with the 9-3 if I were shopping for a Saab...I don't see the benefit of getting the 9-5. That 2.8T engine in the 9-3 is nice stuff.

Did you consider the Subaru Legacy GT Spec.B ?

The guy's asking advice on a performance luxury sedan and you're recommending a souped up version of an econobox?

Edit: get the auto, given your conditions.
The Aero is a great choice, by the way.

It's a Saab, not a BMW.

My family has owned several including a 9-5 Aero. I'll take the Legacy GT any day of the week over them.

So because it's not a BMW it's now an econ box?
Saab and Volvo buyers are usually in the same market as BMW or MB buyers. Perhaps you might take a Legacy GT over anything, but he's probably done his homework and chosen an Aero, why recommend him otherwise? What works for you does not necessarily work for anybody else.

lol...I don't even really care for BMWs myself

I asked a simple question and I apparently tripped some sort of Saab fanboy landmine. If Saab is so elite why were they hawking rebadged Subaru cars? You wouldn't catch Volvo, MB, or BMW dead doing that.

Only the Saab Wagon was a rebadged Subaru, and IIRC, Subaru and GM were interested in Saab's Turbo. the 9-3 and 9-5's bear no resemblance to that of the Subaru Legacy/GT, WRX, etc.

The Saab 9-3 Aero is actually in the same class as any of the 3-series BMW. I personally am more of a Mercedes man, but I helped my younger brother, who also happens to be my roommate, purchase a Saab 9-3 Aero, and it is a blast to drive.

Having spent some time in all the aforementioned cars, I respectfully disagree with the exception of the Impreza line.

yea well now i want the 9-3 aero. ha!

http://auto.nonstop.com.ua/wall/wall/2803-Saab-9-3-Aero-Sport-Sedan-3.jpg

damn thats sexy.

I want to stick with GM. I'm always going to buy american. The only times i would go outside american is for a benz, bmw, or an italian sports car. I had an X5 4 years ago and loved it, sitting on 22s, ps2, dvd, etc.......but the $850 brake job kills everything about it.

Yes I did my homework. I guess not enough to notice the 9-3 aero though. But take a look at the specs of the aero and all the features it comes with. You cant get all that in a BMW for under 35k....probably 40k.
