Poll: GeForce GTS or ATI Radeon or 3dfx V5 5000/5500?

Not sure about the voodoo cards, but I meant the top of the line Voodoo.

Anyway, which one would you choose? I am torn between GTS and the Radeon. the FS/FT forum has GTS for 174, which is an incredible price. but the radeon seems awesome with its TV in and tuner features, but its 230. Which one is better?

I don't play many 3d shooters, at least i'm not "obsessed" with them. I play my share of sports games, and other stuff like Diablo II occassionally.

I made a poll, just generally, which card would you buy? and take the price in consideration as well.

Is that really the price of a GF2? Are you sure it isn't an expensive MX? Or perhaps it could be the 32 MB version.

Anyway I voted for the GF2 (what a surprise! :D).

naturally you voted for the GF2, but if you look, he mentions that he isn't into 3d shooters, which is what the GTS thrives on

5500 or Radeon here, all the way

$174 for a GTS? No way......

I'll go with the GTS also but that's only because I just bought one last week from Untamo in the fs/ft forum. :) I think I got it for $180 shipped (OEM). It's a CL Geforce 2 GTS and I loaded the Detonator drivers (6.26) and she works like a charm.

I wasn't going to reply, but to balance out the Nvidia zealots, I will. The Radeon has much better 2D and 3D quality than Nvidia, as does 3DFX. If you want good quality, go with Radeon. If you like to put 3Dmark scores in your signature, go with Nvidia.

up again.. more opinions? the radeon is actually 165, w/o all-in-wonder capabilities. will I see much of a performance difference between Radeon and GTS in non-3d shooter games?

you will not get a straight answer. most of these type of questions (GF2 vs Radeon vs V5) are answered by hyperactive zealots who will stand behind their beloved company to the bitter end or death, whichever comes first. sickening, but true. i choose none.

Finally someone posts something here that is a cut above the normal Go Radeon, No Go GForce2, No go Voodoo5. It's refreshing to say the least. I choose none as well.

okay i'm glad you two aren't fighting, but that doesn't help me. But are you saying that these 3 cards don't have any great differences? I am leaning towards the 32meg Radeon...

I choose the Radeon. Great 3d & 2d, multimedia features, and technology that will be good for the future.

I have used a V5 5500 and a GF2. The visual benefit of the V5's FSAA is very impressive and I prefer it.

I have tested both the ATI Radeon's and the Geforce 2 (all flavors). The performance differences between the two of them are not all that noticeable. At this point, I would not lean towards either one. The only thing that would influence a buying decision right now would be pricepoint. I think it pointless to pay $350+ for a Geforce card when you can get just as good of a performer in a Radeon.

As for the Voodoo cards, I have only tested them when the first set of drivers were out, and I was not all that impressed. Don't get me wrong. Things may have gotten a lot better since then, but I haven't had the opportunity to test them.

Just my .02 :)

I'd go GTS, mostly cause of nVidia excellent Win2K and Linux support, Win9x is out of the picture for me, so I wont talk about which card is best under that pathetic excuse for an OS :)

How is the radeon's 3d quality better than nvidia's besides Q3's sky problem? Please elaborate. The radeon is probobly gonna have many more white pixels than a GF2 because of immature opengl drivers.
