Agreed. What's more satisfying than "owning" someone in a game? Looting all their stuff, carving their corpse, and taking their head to display in your house. Now that's fun.
You may be interested in Darkfall, as many UO vets are giving it a go when it's released sometime next year. (Beta supposedly starts "before Jan. 06" according to a dev)

I'm going to make a thread for it here actually, or bump a thread if it already exists.

What type of owning? Are you asking us which game we like to own people in more often, or what? If so, then FPS I guess.

Other / results. I guess I'd have to say Chess - it's the only PC-able game I'd prefer to play against a person rather than a computer.

I could just never get into player vs. player. I've done my share of it, won some & lost some, I just find it boring at best (eg. with friends), and annoying at worst (eg. with 12 year olds who either "p\/\/|\|z0123d t3h j00" or got killed by lag). Endless repetition =

Hasn't anyone ever completely battered their mate on Street Fighter 2? Taunting them face to face until it descends into a proper scrap? Even better if it's a game they love and you beat them with pure, unadulterated button bashing!

All you have to do in Street Fighter 2 is jump+ roundhouse, duck + roundhouse, jump+roundhouse... :Q

Haha, not if you're fighting against anyone who knows what they're doing. Most good players would either 1.) do an anti-air move and beat the first jumping roundhouse, 2.) block the jumping round house and then do some combo on your leading with a jab or a short, since they would recover from guard stun and be able to get a quick first move like that off well before you could execute a crouching round house, or 3.) accept the hit from the jumping roundhouse, and then throw your since they would again recover from a jumping roundhouse and be able to get the throw off as you landed.

If no one could tell from that post, I'm all about the owning in fighting games. I love 2D fighting games, including Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Guilty Gear XX#Reload. Nothing beats seeing that big "Perfect" come up on the screen after a flawless round.
