Its a toss up for me... If im watching on my laptop, fullscreen is MUCH nicer 🙂

i prefer widescreen, although i will admit that when i'm watching on the computer and not the tv, fullscreen is pretty nice to have, but i still prefer the wide🙂

Stop trying to make it sound better by saying "fullscreen"
It's PAN AND SCAN damnit...if you want to mutilate your movies, that's your own choice.

2:35:1 for life.

I will not watch a DVD in 4:3. EVER!!!! I'd rather poke my eyes out first!

Unless that was it's original format.

The worst thing is 4:3 letterboxed to 1.69 or whatever. That means when you do get a widescreen TV, there will be black bars on all 4 sides. My copy of A Fish Called Wanda is that way. 🙁

Mommy, make the bad man stop with the lies!!!!

Yes, actually. For instance, Stanley Kubrick wanted his movies shown 4:3. Plus there's always the TV series that go to DVD like X-Files, Simpsons, anime, etc.

TV series are OK, that's what I said OAR - Not everything is filmed in widescreen, & that's OK.

But if it was filmed in anything but 4:3 they damn well better not chop it.

If they do I won't be buying it.

I absolutely despise Pan and Scam... you get so much more out of the movie in its widescreen format. I don't even notice the black bars when I watch movies. Thank goodness for DVDs, VHS ruined movies with the horrid Pan and Scam.

If you have a small TV, often fullscreen seems better simply because widescreen makes the picture just too small to enjoy.

So sometimes fullscreen is good... particularly when your screen is large and has a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Yeah, and chopping off up to 50% of the original picture makes it an even better experience.
