here is a question the corvette has the option of not having the frot licence plate. so is it illegal for corvette if it doesnt have it in the state that requires it?

It's an option for alot of cars to omit the front plate holder.

Anyway, I'm in NJ, so I have both.

I don't patrol the highway, and if I did I'm not sure if I could see someone's front plate if they were tailgating me, considering the lightbar and plexiglass shield are in the way.

There are a number of reasons & situations that we benefit from seeing people's front plates.

Got one on mine in WA state. We only need current tabs on the back plate but I am pretty sure a front plate is required.

I did until some bastard knocked it off. Luckily someone put it on my windshield so now it's laying in my back seat.

MD, required, so I do. And my vehicles would all look funny without, because they have molded front plate spaces on the steel bumpers (except the Escort, which IIRC has a plastic fitted piece that's probably held on with screws into the bumper)
Oh, and dash plates are illegal here. Not sure about elsewhere.

Traffic-light camera photos, perchance?

Ever think of pushing for a law, to require those "FastLane" or "EZ-Pass" radio transponders, to be surgically embedded into the foreheads of previously-convicted criminals for easier tracking? (Considering most perps, they probably don't need a large portion of their cranial space for anything important anyways.) It would be good for the violent offenders too, just remove their frontal lobes (free frontal lobotomy), and shove that thing right in there.

When I say "we" I mean people, not machines. Not only that, but we don't use traffic light cameras...a lot of times people see the opticoms and think that's what they are.

As for the rest of what you said, I don't even know what you're talking about.

Yep.

It's the law in the UK to have plates on front/back.

Cars newer than (i think) 1972 have to have white reflective plates on the front, and yellow reflective plates on the back, both with black writing. Cars older than this can have black plates with silver writing.

Required by law but I still don't have one. I'm not going to drill holes in my bumper for a stupid law like that.

I think that TX requires plates in the front and back, but I currently only have the rear one on. I bought my car six months ago and the front license plate holder was broken off - and I haven't bothered to try to fix it or replace it yet. I'll probably get to that next week (Spring Break), but I haven't had any trouble so far.

In IL and OH you must have a front license plate.

My car is registered in IL however I spend most of my time in college in OH so I dont have to have a front plate while in OH. OH troopers cant enforce a law of another state and can not apply state laws on a car not registered in OH.

A small loop hole that I find it neat to exploit.

Whenever I cross into IL I always put my plate in the front window.

When I bought the car(99 concorde) it didn't have a front license plate holder and it looks like ass on that car also so I have no intention of getting one.
