Yes, this is inspired by the "drunk" thread :)

Did you like the taste of beer the first time you tried it, or did you slowly start to enjoy the more you got used to/aquired to it?

Personally, I hated the stuff when I first started drinking it my freshman year in college. But, after a while, I started to prefer it over mixed drinks and the like.

How about you? Love at first chug, or did you have to sweet'n up to it?

Hard to say because first time i ever tasted beer was when my dad would offer me a sip. Didnt hate it but i didnt like it. Now I like the taste of most beers...I absolutely hate Bud.

I still prefer hard alcohol.

vi_edit, I had exactly the same experience as you. I really shunned beer at first, but I grew to like it more and more. Now I would almost always take beer over mixed drinks.

There are still times when I don't feel like beer, but sometimes, a beer just tastes so good!

I thought it was horrible when I first tried it. Actually, I was right. When I first started drinking beer it was whatever canned piss my friends would buy: Grain Belt, Budweiser, etc.

I've grown to like Rolling Rock, Heineken, a few other kinds. Microbrews are usually the best.

Over the years ive grown to appreciate the different tastes in better beers more.
Just like real Techno, definatly a aquired taste

I actually experienced the exact same thing BoberFett! I drank bud a few times, and absolutely HATED it. Then I tried some Rolling Rock. It was tolerable, then slightly became LIKEABLE after about 3 or so. I now enjoy such beers as Heineken, Red Stripe, Moosehead (great canadian microbrew), Sam Adams is ok in small doses, Labatt Blue, and Dos Equis Special Lager.

Definitely an acquired taste for me, but I still can't drink domestics, they all taste pretty horrible to me. Heineken and Labatt Blue are probably my favorites.

I got drunk at my Mother's 21st Birthday Party!! :)

I was 5 years old then and kept running around drinking everyone's beers at the party. Needless to say, I threw up in bed that night. Can anyone beat that?????

I remember my dad giving me sips as a kid. He'd trained me and my brother to get him beer from the fridge, we were like 6 and 3. Once we learned how to open them, we'd drink some on the way back :) I think it stopped when my brother pounded half of it. :Q

I don't remember liking it much between age 6-15. I think I drank beer the first time I drank, but I don't remember if I liked it or not. I started drinking hard alcohol more often, because beer didn't do it for me, getting drunk-wise, plus the people I hung out with didn't drink much beer. Later in H.S,. my friends changed, so did my opinion of beer. It was cheap, and I started to like it, alot. I'm definitely a beer drinker now. I don't like hard alcohol much. I like beer, I like the various types, I even enjoy brewing it too.

So I guess I'm a "at first chug" kid :)

late.

It was "love at first taste" here and the love affair continues. And people said we wouldn't last.

I've been drinking beer since I was five. I love to have one with sushi or on a hot day working outside, but I seldom drink it or anything else alcoholic. Occassional wine, champaigne, beer or hard liquor but not often. It got demystified early but I had to fall down vomiting drunk a few times to learn.

I definitely think it's an aquired taste,

Especially since many peoples first sips are of some nasty Budweiser or Coors beverage. Or worst of all Milwaukee's Best, the Beast.

Now some tasty Guiness, New Castle or any other decent beer, mmmmmmmmm... (homer simpson slober)

For me beer was an aquired taste.

I've always liked certain hard liquors.. specifically coconut rum, vodka n' oj, etc. :D

I grew up in the town which once held the record for having the most breweries in the world

Growing up in Germany I'd always get a little bit of beer from my Grandpa. So I guess I was used to the taste.
Now I'm not a big fan of it - I only like Radler, which is half beer, half pop.
