If you want to talk overclock, how about a Tbird 800(a lot cheaper than 700E), and OC the fvck out of it? To 1.1GHz?

<< yea wel why not buy a 1.1 ghz t-bird and overclock the f*ck out of it >>

to what? 1.15? 1.2GHz? wow thats impressive!

jesus christ you focking AMD zealots. You get so goddamn defensive it's not even funny. I stated my opinion....you already stated yours, I don't need to be told what to do motherfsckers!

maybe because I can keep my old motherboard, RAM, and PSU with the P3-700e.

whats cheaper:
1. P3-700e
2. AMD TBird 800, new motherboard, new ram, new power supply.

???

Oh stop being an ass, Im saying there is no reason to go Intel if you were to build a new system.

not everyone wants to spend that much money on computer stuff. I'd prefer to make cheap upgrades as I go along.

I just get pissed when people think they can tell me what to do.

Right now T-Bird is the way to go. I'm not sure what "stability issues" Shagga is referring to. (I'm also not sure he is either.)

I recently built an new T-bird system with those stability issues in mind. I slapped the system together in one night and bam! the bad boy was ready to go. I didn't have to jump through any hoops our drop a ton of dough on getting any special parts or anything.

My advice:
buy a T-bird 800 with the potential to o/c to 1-1.1 ghz
get a KT7 motherboard
get a ANTEC KS282 or SX830 or 1030 case...there are a bunch of hot deal threads for those in the other forum
get some PC133 RAM...doesn't have to be Muskin or any top of the line stuff...Micron crucial or PNY would do

End of story

Get the T-Bird dude, check out the Floating Point on various benchmarks at TomHardware.com and sharkyextreme.com

Shagga your nuts, Tunderbirds are not garbage.
Most problems occur from installing the wrong drivers
My sytem with a 1 gig Thunderbird on Abit KT7Raid is Rock stable

Intel recalled their 1.13 chip and you say Thunerbirds are unstable. I think your on crack.
AMD did not recall their chips like Intel did.
Did you ever use a Tunderbird in your system setup. Enough said.
Don't go flamming AMD just by heresay until you experienced it yourself.

And yea I just built my motherinlaw a Pentium 3 setup and have had more problems with it thatn I care to look at, thinking it would be a more stable setup. was I wrong, should have gone AMD, next time definateley.

p3 here, thunderbird is a good cpu and more faster than p3 because of the 100 fsb ddr, howeverrrrr all amd board always have a problem, i said too many times already in this forum, in my friend computer shop, all problem always come from amd system, just serach in this forum, for ex: geforce with via chipset board, always have a problem, and u know via make the board for amd

Because they keep thinking AMD systems are unstable, troublesome and lots of issues blah blah... you know I use to be like that, but it's simply wrong. Nowadays I still see people using such argument as "P3s are more overclockable", the fact is they dont realize the Tbirds are also very capable overclockers. Let's say that they're equally fast(Im just being courtious because Tbird are FASTER), but the Tbird has such an advantage in the price, there is simply no reason to go with Intel if you're building a new computer.

han888: GeForce have problems with the AMD Irongate chipset, NOT the VIA KX/KT133 chipset. And you know what the problem was? The problem is that they dont run at 2x AGP on the Irongate boards, yea big deal. As far as GeForce2s not running AGP4X on VIA boards, it's not their fault, it's nVidia's.

cgtran, People have their own openion. We gave you ours, now it's your job to figure out what you need to buy.

We can't really explain why they say it (nothing wrong with some of the suggestions here). It's just their openion.

Since when did VIA make boards for AMD? They make chipsets... they don't make mobo's for AMD. You're just repeating what shagga said about stability.

Take my system for example. I'm running a classic Athlon 600@650 on a so called unstable K7M motherboard with Generic cheap Ram, and a No name brand 250WATT PS. Do I have any problems with it? NO! My system's on 24/7 with RC5 running all the time. I don't have any AMD recommended products, no bios upgrade, no special drivers and my system is rock stable. 🙂

you freakin cheapos! even if i went with a pee3 i would need good memory, more so than with an athlon (cuz only way you can overclock an intel is by raising the FSB). do you seriously wanna cheap out and get a junk case rather than shelling out a bit more and gettin a quality one! if was that budget-minded than i wouldnt go with a pee3 in the first place (duron is they only way then, no doubt)

how can u said the fault come from nvidia?? and the problem i mean is not because of 2 x agp or 4 X agp, i mean like the system is freeze, or another problem, just search in this forum and u will know! i am currently run p3-800 on cusl2 (i815E chipset) and i never have any problem, i use 6.18,6.31,6.26,5.16,5.13 and run fine here! that's way i prefer intel cpu,and why the geforce run fine in intel system? can u still said the fault come from nvidia?

Since when did VIA make boards for AMD? They make chipsets... they don't make mobo's for AMD

i mean via make the majority mobo for amd!

You're just repeating what shagga said about stability.

no, i am not repeating what shagga said, this is my opinion too, i can said that because i work part time in my friend computer shop, and the majority problem always come from amd system!

and i ever had thunderbird 700 with asus a7v system, and i have a lot of problem, and finally i sold that system and change to p3-700 and run happy here! i never have any freeze problem, etc
