if you guys were in a serious relationship, would you refrain from getting a tattoo if your SO told you not to?

If he asked me not to, I would take listen to him. However, if he said he prefer I not but I can if I still wanted to, then I'd have to think about it.

With that said, I already have 2 and he knows I want to get another one. He said he prefers that i dont but wouldnt care if i did.

quick note: getting their name tattoo'd on your buttocks, not such a smart idea.

And as to your question: If i wanted a tatoo, i'd ask them what they thought. If they made a big deal out of it, i'd get it anyway. But personally, it really doesn't matter what they think, it's your body...and if they broke up w/ you because of it, they are too immature to be dating.

I'd never get a tattie either, but hypothetically speaking I would absolutely take my SO's opinion into consideration.

It really depends on how much I thought they were against it.

Most people are against alternative things just because they are not the norm.

I don't do the norm, however; at the same time I respect my wife is not of the same mindset.

I haven't found a tattoo I would want permanently on me yet.

Doubt I'd ever get one but I talk about everything with my SO so I'm sure it would come up.. not like I would need permission or anything.

hell yeah I'd tell her.

I'd tell her I'm getting one, I wouldn't ask. But dang I'd tell her.

How would you feel if your gorgous woman came home one day with "the married do", you know chopped so short she looks like a guy? All without telling you.

Your poll and your message body ask the same question two different ways. I'm dumb, so I answered the question in your actual post.

As in... no, I would NOT get a tattoo if asked not to. At the most, it would be discussed a bit more.

I survived 3yrs in the US Army with my skin unscathed from a tatooist's needle, I will go my life without one!

Well that I can respect.

I was born catholic. Adopted a more or less biblical approach to my life which when you look at it sort of encompasses basically all the modern religions minus the fodder the add in outside the 'book'.

If you want a cross and are not just adding in to the situation, she should respect that choice as your 'other half'.
