Here are some arguments I've heard so far against Gay marriage:

1. It allows for two 50 year old pediphile men to adopt a 12 year old boy.

2. If we allow gay marriage, then the population would decrease since it takes a man and a woman to reproduce.

3. Hey, we have equal rights, I can't marry a man and he can't marry a man. That's equal rights under the law.

4. Marriage is a Christian right, not a gay right.

5. Nothing will happen now, but two generations later, something bad could happen.

6. Slippery slope effect.

7. (From CA's Governor, Arnold, himself) "..There are riots in the streets, ... People will get killed."

im for it. it doesnt affect me so why should i be against it? all these stupid republicans that oppose it are homophobes, or they are mixing religion with politics.

4. Marriage is a Christian right, not a gay right.

It's not necessarily a Christian right. It's more of a governmental right at this point in the US. The problem is the following: why should the government recognize any marriages at all?

interesting that the "for's" outnumber the "against's"

For those who are for it, ask yourself this:

When your child gets to be a teenager/adolescent (a very influencable age) would you want them to spend the night a friend's house who's parents are gay?

Do you think that may have an impact on the lifestyle your child may choose?

Yeah as of now we are talking about civil marriage... anyone can get religiously married (ie:cultural), but it won't mean a thing if that couple doesn't go downtown and register.

I was against the issue, until a Professor of mine showed me the facts and let me decide on my own. Now I'm FOR.

I don't like gays, but that's just my problem, not theirs. If they want to get married then why should I stop them from pursuing happiness... I have no right as a human to tell another human what to do.

I believe in something called choice, which is what our country was built off of, so I support homosexuals if they make the CHOICE to get married.

I don't see why people have such a problem. Doesn't affect then in anyway.

I'm not gay but I think it isn't fair for them not to marry. I'd be P!SSED if I was gay! Imagine when ONLY homosexuals could marry and hetrosexuals COULD not?

It will have an impact, but I don't think it will be a negative impact like you seem to think.

They can spend the night over anytime. I don't think I'd be as paranoid as you would.
