:)

There's a huge difference between the biological term fruit, and the gastronomic. As we all know vegetable doesn't exist in the biological term.

So in gastronomic terms the tomato is a vegetable and in the biological it's a fruit.

But placing the rhubarb is more dificult :) (gastronomically)

Tomato is a fruit?

that's what i was just thinking
Yes, it is.

So is a cucumber.

cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, basically anything that contains seeds is fruit.

technically, vegetables are like leaves and stalks of the plant. fruits are the part that contain the seeds.

Actually, not quite. Tomatoes, apples, strawberries, etc are all vegetables AND fruit. Fruit are a subset of vegetables. A vegetable is any kind of edible plant, and fruit are the ripened ovaries of plants.

Or so I discovered.

Definately a fruit.

And the OP should be sentenced to death by firing squad for grouping regular, succulent sweet goodness pears with the vile apple-shaped asian imposters that bear the same name.

I tend to look at it the other way around, vegetables are a subset of fruit, lol.

But yeah, at the most basic definition of the word "vegetable", all fruits are "edibe parts of a plant".

Raspberries

Carambola, pomegranites, kiwifruit, cranberries, nectarines, plums, currants, and papayas are also wonderful.
