POLL: fantasy OR sci-fi

fantasy or sci-fi?

  • FANTASY!

  • SCI-FI!

  • I LOVE BOTH TOO MUCH TO CHOOSE (and will die alone)!

  • my answer is far too complex for a simple poll...

If you had to choose one or the other for your movies, books, TV and video games... what would you pick?

Sci-fi: lasers, robots, space ships, future, etc (Star Wars, Star Trek, Mass Effect, etc)

Fantasy: swords, wizards, horses, etc (LOTR, Game of Thrones, Elder Scrolls, etc)

I just realized that if I'm playing it, I'd prefer it to be fantasy, but if I'm watching it, I like sci-fi better.

How about fantasy scifi?

I mean I would consider Star Wars to be a fantasy scifi. It's clearly more cartoony than say, Prometheus or Children of Men. Now those are scifi.

Sci-fi. It was fantasy when I was a kid, but as an adult I far prefer science fiction.

It's a genre of a genre. Both are fantasy (at this point). I tend to prefer Sci-fi-ish movies, but fantasy for everything else.

Strongly prefer sci-fi. For a long time I didn't like any fantasy stuff, but Game of Thrones got me more into it and now I do enjoy it. I still prefer sci-fi though.

I generally prefer sci-fi, although LOTR and Game of Thrones are pretty high up in the list of favorite things ever. But after that, fantasy drops off sharply, while sci-fi has a much deeper canon (from my point of view anyway).
