POLL: Explain the 1 to 10 scale for me

I rarely use the scale. Most likely, it is a joke. Such as, "On a scale of 1 - sex in my mouth, this rates as tastey."

No, you are all wrong! It's way easier to say 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is like meh... whatever. Besides extremes are much more fun. Yeah, that's right forget middle of the road, what does this actually rate, blah blah blah.

Either it's totally awesome, it totally sucks, or nobody cares.
