Working in an office, plenty of times. My body has a crappy sleep cycle. I'm a natural night worker. I'll get enough regular sleep and still fall asleep once 9-10 am rolls around.

I think the question "How many jobs have you lost from falling asleep too often on the Job?" is more appropriate for me.

OK then... how many jobs have you lost from falling asleep too often on the job?

work @ office,

when i first strated i really didn't have much thing to do (pretty much little task given by manager), nothing more boring than sitting in office for 8+ hours doing nothing. so i would find myself "zoning out" every once a while.

it's not like i wanted to do that...but now it's getting little bit better since i have more duties and what not.

i still catch myself zoning out once a while, but it only happens when literally have nothing to do (either that or doing something really really boring)

kinda scary since our HR person likes to visit building i work (his office is in other buildign)

I sure have.

Some of you know I was a store manager for McDonalds.
Every month, get a mystery shop which is can only occur during 7-9am, 11-1, and 5-7 pm.
So to get good scores, our president make a point that all store managers have to work during those times to get good scores.

Anyway, between 1-5pm, it a long break so me and 2 buddies(another store manager and our supervisor) go hang out at a local pub...beer, wings, BS and not to mention pretty waitresses.
We actually always look forward to these times.

So one day, I had to much to drink and I came back to the store at 4:30.
I'm like, I still have 30 mins so let to relax for a minute.
Needless to say, I fell asleep on the desk and woke up at 7pm(after mystery shop already over).

I'm like damm, we were busy too so I was praying we didn't get a shop.
Trying to cover myself, I called my buddy(the supervisor) and told him I fell asleep.
I told him I fell sleep in the car, not in the office.
He then told the president to cover himself(I didn't know this).

So the president came by the store the next day.
Ask me how things going, blah, blah.....then he asked me how was my nap yesterday.
I was so damm embaress....had nothing to say really....just told him I was so tired from working so much 🙂

Sorry for the long story. A story isn't a story without some back story.

Is that once a month, and you know it is going to be on a particular day that it happens? If so, that's weak. Not surprised, but, a waste of resources on McD's part if you ask me. Why bother. I guess some franchises still miss the mark but if they are that bad when they know of an inspection... ugh...

Who am I kidding, it' s McD's... 😛

5 or 6, maybe more.

I fell asleep in a manager meeting about 2 months ago
I work in a small production shop with about 50 employees, the managers meeting is every morning at 9am, I fell asleep right next to the president and she is the one that busted me.
It sucked, but now its company lore.
I still work there 🙂

I've gone in to work at midnight, been asleep at 12:20, woke up at 7:50, and gone home at 8 before. That was one fast shift. Good thing nothing failed.

Ages ago before law enforcement, I used to be a sales manager servicing Home Depot stores all over the bay area. I had to drive for like 2-3 hours per day, and I also ate a lot while driving to save time. Lots of fast food + trying to make good time driving = lots of stored up excrement. But anyways, I'd always hit the bathroom first, and I would frequently nod off for 10-30 min. It started happening so much that I started budgeting time for it. Nobody ever knew either!

I fell asleep standing up. Starting to fall is what woke me up.

Ha! That reminds me... my first job was retail (Target) and one morning I had to come in at like 6am (extremely early for me back then) \. It was a Saturday morning, and the store didn't open until 8. I was SOOOOOO tired, so I found a nice spot over in the "domestic" section, and layed my head down on a soft pillow that was on a top shelf. I stood there sleeping for about 20 minutes before a fellow coworker woke me up. I woke up really refreshed too! If you haven't tried sleeping standing up, you're missing out.

Yep, I fell asleep standing up in chow line at Basic training. Was rudely awakened by someone behind me tapping on my back. The line was 10 feet in front of me 😱

Yeah, its only once a month.
90% of all shops occur by the 15th of the month but I've seen them wait till the last day of the month twice already.

Yeah, its somewhat kind of a joke but most place of business employ of type of "mystery shop".
I know all major fast food have mystery shop.

I know of customers who have told me they get such great service during these certain hrs(mystery shop hrs) and crappy service otherwise.
Its true cause in most stores, after mystery shops are over, everyone just stop.

But the corporation ultilize this and known inspections as your grade so you got to play the game.
