OK......first thing.....I'm not going to "wait for the AMD dual boards" I have two AMD systems running just fine! I recently bought an MSI 694D ProAR which turned out to be a heaping pile of junk......but that's another story for another time........ What I want to know now, has anyone got any expierience with either the Abit VP6, or the MSI 694D Master? Want some input on these as I have narrowed my choice to one of these for other reasons!

Andyhui......yeah actually.....but only one is a good one! I have 4X IBM 75GXP HD's, CD/DVD-ROM Drive, Burner, LS-120.........How will I get those all on 2 IDE Channels? LOL! ;) Don't want to use a controler card when the others have 4X IDE Channels and all are ATA-100 on the VP6!.......Also, I just haven't had good luck with anything Asus as of late!:frown:

OK...but in terms of speed and resources used, the controller card will be exactly the same as onboard controller. ASUS' onboard IDE ports are ATA100 capable as well.

Andy.....yeah, I did look into it and actually know quite a bit about that board as well as the ones mentioned.......it made it to the "final four".......I just can't see taking up a PCI slot for my IDE devices when the others already have them!;) The Asus Board may be fine.....I just have to eliminate by choice and the lack of onboard IDE in addition to my bad expieriences took out the Asus.......

Well I'd eliminate ABit based on past experience with them, and go for the 694D Master.

Noriaki.......am I wrong or is your expierience based on AMD Abit problems? Just wondering! I know many people have had terrible luck with Abit, but honestly I've had better luck with Abit boards than ANY other! 2 bad MSI's & 4 bad Asus's in my past....... Plus......I still can't seem to find an MSI 694D Master! :(

I'm using CUV4X-d for my dual PIII and so far this board has been performing flawlessy for me.

I'd go with the 694D personally, in my experience the VP6 isnt stable enough to be a quality dual processor board. It does seem to perform slightly better though, but that small performance increase seems to come as the cost of a large stability deficet.

I think there are only 3 choices if you seek stability plus performace: 440BX, 440GX and 840 chipsets.

Any problems with the IWILL DVD266-R (Apart from it being a litlle *cough* uhm... unreleased yet?

You could look at the IWill DBD100, but that's Slot1 BX... ;/
They don't seem to have anything 'recent' as Dual mobos go :(

dual 440bx seems to work fine for me. i haven't found a piece of hardware that wouldn't work in it. locked agp divisor but most of the newer vid cards can handle it if you plan to overclock. some drawbacks cuz of the older chipset: 2x agp, ata33.
