Poll: Driving stick down a hill....

When I drove a stick, it was a matter of how big the hill was. I liked to see how fast I could go out of gear.

Stay in gear and save your breaks... let the engine slow you down otherwise you'll cook your breaks if you constantly ride them down that thar hill...

stay in gear, it'll save your brakes from over heating, and possibly losing them.

also if you have to stop, you will be able to stop quicker if you use gears to slow your down

In gear. If you lived where I lived and put it into neutral every time you got to a hill, your arm would get a damn good workout every time you drive. Whats the point of popping it into neutral anyways?

I have three hills that are about a mile and a half long going to and from work. I'm out of gear and coasting. I never downshift. And Yes I have been driving a stick for 12 years.

It all depends on how much you drive and how bored you are. I drive a stick because I like it. If I wanted to stay in gear all the time I'd drive an automatic.

When you drive the same 60 miles a day you need something to make it fun. 😀

it is safer to stay in gear.

If an emergency situation arises quickly and you need to react by accelerating or stepping on the brake, it is always better to be in gear.

Depends how steep the hill is. If it's steep enough to maintain my desired speed then I'll put it in neutral. Otherwise, I leave it in gear to either speed up or slow down.

It's called Georgia Overdrive! It is illegal to decend a hill out of gear in all 50 states.....god all mighty save us!
