I have owned both now...I actually just got the dc-its great...I sit at home and play nintendo games(www.dcemulation.com) all day. Also, their games are better and for the price, the graphics are amazing.

anybody got an opposing view? support would be nice too.

anyway...if we have any big dc fans, pm me or post dc websites for hacking.

thanks

I think the PS2 has a lot of yet untapped power. It's game library is still relatively small.

But in terms of HW, I think the PS2 is better.

Personally my DC has been in its box for the past 9 months or so. I just dont like any of the games that are you for it etc. My PS2 is however hooked up and used a decent amount. Most of my Stuff is played on my PC but for RPG's like the Final Fantasy series etc. is PS2 baby.

I like the dreamcast a lot better than the PS2.

Although I don't own a PS2, several of my friends do. So far nothing has really caught my eye.

Although I may get one, I want to see if they drop in price. GT3 and FFX/XI are looking real good :D

the dreamcast is a great deal right now, although its sad to see it go since Sega pulled the plug on it :(

Nothing beats the huge matches my cousin and I have on Capcom vs. SNK and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 :D

DC's got really cool games like tennis, Powerstone series, Shenmue, the rpg's... It is harder to push new boundaries because there's so much out there. PS2's games are Omnimusha, GT3, Metal Gear 2 that stand out. DC has awesome racing games too. Haven't played Red Faction. Maybe it is that good according to review, but it's just like Half Life. Dreamcast's just fun and at a good price. 50 dollar a game's just too much.

there are many sites out that let you hack your dc's and play most emulated systems. For example, I can play snes games through my dreamcast by burning an emulator onto a disc and hacking the dc to read it.

does that help? Illegally, one can also burn images of dc games to play them without ever paying for the games themselves.

The dreamcast is absolutely amazing. I play it everyday! PSO, Crazy Taxi, Soul Caliber, Resident Evil, Chu Chu Rocket, sonic, NFL 2K1.... the list goes on and on! The games are just plain fun. I have to agree that the Dreamcst is just doing better than the PS2 because the larger and better library of games. However, I think the PS2 will do very well in the coming months with great games like Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy X, and Metal Gear.

I've had much fun with my Dreamcast. Crazy Taxi (1/2), NBA 2K1, NFL 2K1, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, and more great games. It also helped that I paid very little for them.

I'm trading my DC and 85 or so mislabeled CD-R's for a PS2 with Madden 2001 and SSX. How can I lose? If I really dislike the PS2, I can always sell it and buy a used Dreamcast for $60 and get all my games back.

I have a dreamcast that I rarely play (Bust a Move 4 rocks!) but I think PS2 will own soon when it grows a bit older and that is when I will pick one up :)

PS2 is in a bad place in the current gaming market, it is in the same place the Dreamcast was last year. People held off buying DC due to the upcoming PS2 - which after all the hype is a disapointment game-wise.

Now PS2 has X-box and Nintendo's Cube to worry about and those systems are coming out soon... Yeah, Sony's got a lot to worry about now...

PS2 looks prettier :)

Anyway, I'm more of a graphics person, so I prefer PS2.
When GT3 comes out, I'm gonna have to buy a PS2 just for that game.

I know what's a PS2 and it's rocking.
DreamCast?
Is it something still in someone's dream and hasn't made reality?
DC = Dead Crap.

I've only briefly played a PS2, but the game selection doesn't do much for me....However, I bought my younger bro a Dreamcast 2 weeks ago and I gotta say, this thing ROCKS!!! :) Graphics are awesome, multiplayer on one DC kicks arse....4 controller ports, yeah baby! Spec wise, I'd say PS2 is better, but what good is that if there a crap games to play? and games that cost three arms and half a leg to buy?

So, it's DC for me!!!

owning both and playing each wayyy too much, here's what I've come to think:

Sega has much better first party games. Everything from Jet Grind Radio to NFL2K1, that's awesome stuff. However, they'll be working on games for other systems now, which kind of eliminates the point.

Sony has the bulk of the market (at the moment), and with that they get all the games. Good, bad, it's on PS2. There are some great titles starting to hit the market (Red Faction, Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero, Twisted Metal Black), but few are original titles. The best stuff will come this fall when Sega starts pumping out their own games for PS2 and XBOX, and M$oft puts out their first party titles.

im going to have to agree with lihn.
the only reason i bought a DC was because its so easy to pirate.

also, IMO the best games are always the 4 player games, and ps2 has
how many controller ports?
