[Poll]Does your college/university allow liquor in the dorms? (College students)

Well inspired by my thread about Notre Dame Alcohol Policies, I decided to create a poll and see if other universities allow liquor in the dorms. Please answer the poll based on Universities policy, not if you do it and get away with it.

Also please post in this thread what school and their policy. Thanks

you get away with it. ra's dont care. just dont get rowdy and throw chairs out the window and stuff. that might get you written up.

When I attended South Dakota State, 18 y/o could buy 3.2% beer, had one blowout where my dorm went through 130 kegs, made a killer pyramid for the photo😉

We can have it as long as we're not on a substance free floor and we're 21. If we're 21 and our roomate isn't, they have to leave the room while we drink it. It can't be visible in the room either, must be in the fridge.

I'm sure this happens all the time 😉

For the two years I lived in the dorms, our RA, also the staff resident in charge of all the other RAs, would drink with us in our rooms. Of course alcohol was not permitted in the dorms at all, but who cares.

I don't live in the dorm's but Cal's policy is that it's allowed as long as at least one person in that room is above 21. The amount they are allowed to have is (the number of 21+ students in that room) * (amount those people can drink in one 24-hour period)

What the hell kind of rule is that and how do they test it? Is there an exam given at the beginning of the school year to see how much you can drink so that they know how much you can keep in your room?

At the University here, if you are over 21 you can drink in your dorm room. If you have underaged people in the room, even if they are not drinking, you get a $50 fine per underaged person.

Something similar to the school I went to. There was a 21 and older only dorm where alcohol was allowed. Otherwise it was a no-no.

I didn't vote since no option matched.

Trenton State College/TCNJ--yes. If you live in a conventional dorm and both residentes are 21+ you can have booze (beer or hard stuff). If you live in a townhouse, you can have booze in you're room if you're over 21. If all residents are over 21, you can keep it in the shared fridge or roam freely about the house with it.

At the University of GA, you can have alcohol in your room if you're 21(obviously) or over, but you can only drink it in your room. Not that that stopped people from doing otherwise.

Another interesting thing is that at UGA the RA's aren't legally allowed to search your person, so once a friend of mine, who was 18 at the time, walked into his dorm with a case of beer tucked under his shirt. The RA asked him what he had under his shirt, and he replied, "Nothing."
The RA had to take his word for it and let him go.

University of Nebraska:
No alcohol is allowed on campus under normal circumstances. There is one exception. You can fill out an application with the university police and dean stating that (1) over 75% of people there are 21 or over and (2) that the police and dean may stop by at any time during the event. If the application is accepted then alcohol is permitted on campus for that event.

I voted NO since most people never bother to fill out the form - so most are breaking the rules.

Purdue has a completely dry campus. Nobody is allowed to have alcohol here. Oh well, what they don't know (or pretend not to) won't hurt them.

At Ball State University (in Indiana) they have two 21 and over dorms. Since everyone is "legal" everyone can have alcohol.

Lethal

yeah because here you only have to be 19 to drink

you arent allowed to have open booze in the hall way or common rooms, only in your room.

*kat. <-- uofg

edit; i would also like to add we have 2 bars on campus, one of which is in our university center... last year after our last final we all went for drinks... they werent allowed to serve us cuz it was only 10am.. we had to wait til 11.
