No, the word here is former.
I dont have any evidence that he has continuing drug problems, or a past drug problem.
As for alcohol, been there done that myself, I certainly cant hold that against him.

It does bother me some. I can understand someone of Bush and Gore's ages having smoked some pot or even trying some speed or a hit of acid when they were of high school or college age, but Bush's situation was different. It was cocaine, which I think you have to be pretty stupid or arrogant to even try, and it was when he was well beyond his late teens or early twenties. I know he wouldn't answer the question about how long ago he had quit, but from all I've read, it seems to have been as late as his mid-thirties. It's not that big a factor, but it does bug me a little, especially every time I hear him *sniff*. 🙂
