I don't get it... do I have some kind of biological resistance to caffeine and sugar or something?

I hear people saying how they can't go to sleep after drinking a can of soda?! I'm thinking its all psychological or something. Because I drink a frappucino bottle (just because it tastes good) but it does nothing in helping me stay awake. Problem with this though, is its nearly impossible for me to pull an all nighter... I'll knock out. :p

pop a few nodoze max strength and then say caffine is just psychological =)

I can sleep after one can of pop too, I think some people are just more sensitive. As for the sugar thing, I thought that was dis-proven or somthing, I dont remember exactly, but I thought I read about that.

Caffeine doesn't seem to affect me either. I don't know if it's psychological or not, maybe it just varies from person to person.

It effects people differently. If I drink too much coffee, I get shakes. And it does keep me awake. But there are some people that it will knock out. My cousin (40 yrs old) would be considered to have ADD, has OCD, and ACD was given coffee as a child to make him sleep.

From what I can tell, it does seem to a bit. I think it affects people differently, though. Some people get hyper after just one can of soda. Others, it takes more. I sometimes feel a bit more "awake" after I drink a can of soda. Did that a lot the last couple of years when I had 8 AM classes.

Coke doesn't do anything to me. Though, I had a Starbucks hazelnut frap today during a 6pm class and I was hyper/jittery during the class.. I usually have a coke daily, but rarely have coffee.

Depends on how much you can handle and how much you have. Sorta like how some chick might be plastered off of a glass of wine, but some 300 lb football fan can pound back 12 beer over the course of a game and be fine.

caffeine is a CNS (central nervous system) stimulant. the reason different people react to it differently is that stimulants have dual properties. at the same time while stimulating your physical body, in some people it calms down their mind. this is especially prevelant in people with ADD and ADHD. this same kind of effect is also present in other stimulants likes amphetamines (adderall) and methylphenidate (ritalin), which are used to speed people up, while at the same time calming them
