SuperVHS just never caught on. I think the reason was the price was never cheap and dvd was always hanging in the future but they sure are nice. Did they ever make movies in SVHS?

Yes, I tape shows on tv all the time. Don't need Tivo or any of that crap

I tape shows when I'm too busy (ie, i procrastinated/slept too much earlier in the day to get any homework done).

I hardly use it for tapes unless I have to record something or my roommate can't rent a DVD....he'll rent the tape instead.

I don't own a TV though. I have a Princeton Arcadia monitor and use that for my display...I use my VCR as a TV Tuner.

Of course, have you NOT been to a Block Buster or other rental place, lately?

Sales of DVD players have only recently surpassed the VHS/VCR, but that is NEW sales. The DVD has quite a long way to go before displacing the VHS/VCR in US homes.

once i got a dvd player my vcr got put on the back burner. i only use the vcr if i really have to, like when i can't find a movie on dvd.

I use mine to tape stuff all the time. A lot of times I never watch the stuff (I watch less than an hour of TV a day and probably maybe an hour a week of entertainment TV a week) but glad to know it is there if I need it. I tape the national news everyday and try to watch that at least.

I haven't been able to find "Best of the Best" on DVD. But I haven't looked either. 😀

/me goes hunting

Our library still hasn't gotten in many DVDs to borrow so most of the new releases are on VHS. Just got a couple today on VHS. Hey, free is free...

and my dad tapes Caps games for me since he hasn't gotten around to installing a dish for us here. I need that VCR!

I don't have one at college..my parents will be using theirs for the next 20 years if nobody stops them, just like analog cable & analgo cell phones..they have a TV that is as old as my sister (24 years old!!)

I just bought a new one today because my old one stopped playing tapes. I really didn't want to but I want to tape shows and I don't want to get stuck with the monthly's of a PVR.

Don't even have one in the apartment, and the only reason I would buy one would be because the audio can't be passed to my receiver right now.

For taping things off of TV and some older videos we have around. At home the VCR is used more than the DVD player.

yeah, i use it once in a while, about half as often as i use my dvd player.....which is about 1/10 as often as i use the computer....

Very rarely do I use mine. I had my brother tape the first half of the Fiesta Bowl for me because I had to work rather than doing it myself. I'm not sure I even remember how to work my VCR.
