Let me C&P what I posted in Alkemyst's thread yesterday...

I'm salary and in IT and people call/email/etc. me at all hours of the day and night. I couldn't care less, I knew this getting into IT that it is a 24/7/365 job. However, no one says shit to me if I come in 3 hours late, leave 3 hours early, take a 4 hour lunch, or simply say "I'm working from home today" either, so it is quite a give and take relationship.

No OT, I"m salary, but there is flexibility to come and go, and to work from home if I want.

I'm salary and currently do not get paid overtime (up until March 5th and then it's time to start over). Up until mid 2008, I received 1.5X pay for each OT hour over 40.

I work 60 hours a week and I'm paid 1 1/2 for anything over 40hrs. I will not take a salary job. It's just an excuse to work you for free. No thanks.

Correct. Classifying an employee as Salary Exempt is ONLY in the benefit of the employer, not the employee. That way they get your labor/overtime for free.

I won't work for free.

Overtime is expected at my job and we are not payed for it (salaried). My client pays my company for my overtime though...but at the going rate. I get bonuses loosely based on the hours I've billed over the course of a year. So I guess you could say I'm payed overtime indirectly.

1.5x for OT. Weekly work hours is 37.5 h but somehow the company manages to get the first 6 hours free, and OT doesn't start until 43.5 h. Need to look into that.

Yes - 1.5x hourly for anything over 40 hours/week.

this.

I used to only get comptime, but we got some support contracts that pay my salary so I get OT now.

also, anything over 8 hours a day I get 1.5x.

so if I work 10 hours one day, and take the other 4 days off, I'm a bastard I still can get OT. usually I wont do that to my employer

I had to a bit in the summer but I put a stop to it quickly since I wasn't getting paid for it.

I work a 36 hour week followed by a 48 hour week followed by a 36 hour week, and so on. Yes I get paid overtime.

If I didn't get paid OT, I wouldn't be working more than 40 hours per week

Same. I knew going into this that it can be a 60+ hour a week job, especially in a rough economy. I generally work a couple hours on sat and sun, whether it's helping a remote user or server junk.

When times are good and I have a few employees I come in late and leave early without question. Since the economy tanked I'm here from 8-6 to support desktop users.

The key factor is to decide whether or not you can make enough money to make it worth it. I love it.

Only if pre-approved by our sponsor, and then it is just the normal pay rate.

I am salary, fixed term

Hourly. I would get OT if we were allowed to work OT. You've got to get approval from management to be allowed to work OT.
