An example would be anime. Guys who watch this stuff are so defensive about it if you try to say something bad about it. From what I can tell is that they just like spiky blue hair, 10 year old girls and big sparkly blue eyes. Is that gay or just stupid???

Just stupid, 'cause good anime doesn't need defending. Although likely that specific anime being defended is gay 😀.

Well more specifically, the way these guys get so defensive about their precious cartoons is stupid/gay or just stupid in a gay way.

Yes I do...and for the record, I disapprove of the lifestyle but I still respect/like/love of the person.

I have quite a few extended family members who are gay...second cousins and crap like that.

On the flip side, one of my friend sleeps with more chicks than Colin Farrell (will maybe not) and I don't approve of that lifestyle either but he's still one of my best friends.

no, IMO the word "gay" is not derogatory, though i do realize it might be for a few people. If i want to use a derogatory word, i use "i love you".

About a year ago....me and some mates had a drunken conversation discussing what cartoon characters were Gay....everytime we came accross one which we thought was....which seemed to be over half....we kept saying "GAAAAAAYYY" in a deep voice, raised at the end....

Well.....my cousins heard about this and for some reason they decided to say this around their school....a year later....their entire school are saying it....what a terrible trend we started.....

maybe they should redefine the word to adapt to how most people seem to be using it today, languages constantly evolve and it seems gay will not be used to describe homosexuals in the future it will be purely a derrogatory term..........

If my car is giving me trouble it is being gay.

when something unjust is done to myself or a friend.......then that event was just gay

the new homosexual reality shows on tv are just gay

the new heterosexual reality shows on tv are just gay

I could be wrong, but I don't think that gay was ever officially meant homosexual.

Definately a yes here... I mentioned this to my friends a few years ago:

Me: Isn't it weird about the evolution of the word "gay"? I mean, years ago it meant 'happy', now it means 'homosexual', and its starting to be used as a general term for anything that is bad. Isn't that very peculiar?
......
Them: Shut up i love you.

Nope I don't. Just not part of my vocabulary considering I despise the local dialect of those around me. People around here say 'gay' for stupid and 'bad' for cool... I'll be talking to someone and they're all, "That's gay, but that car is bad!" I'm like, "Wha?"

When I refer to something as being "gay", I usually am referring to something that is sissy like. Something that a gay man (that wanted to be a woman) would like.

If I use the word stupid, would it be derogatory to people who are actually stupid? I like to use the word gay. People sometimes complain...whatever.

This thread is gay.
One time oen of my friends was telling a story in front of another gay friend and he referred to someon as gay. When he realized his faux pas he explained that he by gay he just meant he was a bad person. 😀 Forunately most gay guys have a good sense of humor, like calling each other fags.

Used to in highschool. Then got over it.

I'd prefer to use "stupid" as a lot of the people I talk to at ISU are (but I bet not much as the people at Western, eh, FallenHero?😉), but not many of them are gay.

I suppose if I met a lot of stupid people and they happen to be gay, I'd start using the term. But no, homosexuals aren't dumber then the rest of us (i.e. there's a hellova lot of dumb gays, just like straight people).

I'm gonna have to agree with you. 🙁 The last week I was there I saw what looked like a man (was a woman though) riding a john deer tractor in the middle of the street with a big bass t-shirt on and a green plain hat on, while smoking a cig.
