17-25 year olds are adults and can do whatever they (we) want.

Including acting like a piece of ******? Most teenagers are no better than criminals and should be treated as such.

Generalize much? Sounds like we have a straw man argument here...

Yea, that'll be great, then they can feel alienated from society and grow up to be real criminals! I'm so glad I've got wise elders like you to show me the way.

Alienated? The bad ones who are beaten, yeah they will and they should.

They should? You want them to be criminals... are you reading your own posts?

There's no reason for the good teenagers to feel persecuted though.

Directly after -->

Most teenagers are no better than criminals and should be treated as such.

Contradiction?

When I say "most teenagers" I'm talking about treating the bad ones as criminals. I didn't say that all teenagers are criminals and should be treated as such.

Yes, but it's a true generalization. I know many more teenagers that are no better than punks than ones who are actually polite and law abiding.

You did say most though. And what constitutes bad?

When I was 18 I had my own place and was getting up at 5 every morning to work on a building site, I was quite capabable of disciplining myself, and find the notion that someone should discipline me at an age of up to 25 a bit offensive.

no better than punks

Punk is a type of music...

Guys, there's no reason to turn this thread into a pissing match. You obviously don't see eye to eye on the subject so perhaps you should just leave it that way.

There are always exceptions to any blanket statement, exactly why they're more harmful and incendiary than a more fair, balanced assessment of the situation.

Yes, I did say most, and most teenagers are bad. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out what bad is. Vandalism is bad. Puking in the streets is bad. Stealing is bad. Most teenagers are guilty of at least one of those. If you can discipline yourself, great. Then you don't need a beating or any form of punishment. I'm talking about the ones that do.

Most, but not all. It pisses me off that even though I live in a nice neighborhood, there are little bastards committing all sorts of crimes, like vandalism and petty theft. They should be beaten and lashed.

I would agree with most and not all as well..

Hell, I am 21!

I have crappy school work ethic. Although I do get everything done on time and am prepared for the majority of exams. If I applied myself more i'd have at least a 3.7 GPA.

I have excellent work ethic. Every employer I've had has been impressed by my ability and discipline while on the job. I just started working for the Geek Squad 6 weeks ago and my boss has already told me I'm the one he can count on to work a specific position while we're low on people.

I'm not sure....

I don't think of myself as being a member of an age group or a member of a generation as much as I think of myself as an individual just trying to make myself a better person and make the world a little better of a place by being nice to people. I know I still fvck up sometimes... but.... I'm only human.

<<< Very happy that none of the companies I'm applying to work for now that I'm graduating college can tell that I'm 20

I would say, it depends. For those who graduated college and have jobs, I would say no. Others, I would say yes. Personly, I do not think I do, 23 and I own my own house as do some of my friends. I also have friends under 25 who are married/getting married. So, as with many questions, it depends.

I'm 25, please don't classify me with 17 year olds. :disgust:

I think the generation that grew up with some inkling of whta it was like in the 80's is alright. Younger kids, I think are spoiled rotten and growing up to be dumber and dumber.

/generalizations

^Thats not really a bad thing either.Society needs "dumb" people too balance it out.If everyone was smart wouldnt we just try to outsmart each other every single day?

I think that generation is a generation of extremes.

I find that kinds of my generation (Y generation), are either extremely well behaved and intelligent, or extremely out of control.

But in all fairness, I think most people who bash this generation forget how out of control the babyboomers and hippy generations were.
You fall into the age bracket the OP is talking about, correct?

Realistically there isn't much difference between generations. They strive for the same goals, and their methods of achieveing them are about the same.

OP, you fall into that generation as well. Even if you're a couple years older you're still in that generation.

Discipline and common courtesy. But, I'm sure they believe in their hearts, that people enjoy listening to cRap bass from their riceboxes all day long. Honestly, they ought to be stuffed head first up their fvckin' fat fart pipes!

Discipline and rebelliousness are not mutually exclusive. It takes both to affect change.

Hopefully y'all will realize how much power you have, if you have the discipline to use it.

Unless you want to just be another generation of shoppers, like the last 2 or 3.

Note how I said, my generation (Y generation).

17-25 is part of the alleged "Y" generation.

Hell yes they are. I taught geography to college freshmen for a couple years an was appaled by the lack of motivation and stupidity. I actually had a kid show up to a test one day and tell me, "ughhh I didn't study can I take it next week?" I mean seriously moron was too lazy to even make up an excuse.
