POLL: Do you support the Patriot Act?

Sure I support it. So long as it keeps me safe from those "terrorists" I don't care what liberties I have to give up.

hagbard isn't that bad . . . plus we are Americans . . . we can take it . . . well except for the thin-skinned jingoists.

Now the Patriot Act is the greatest threat to American liberty since Lincoln. Granted, Lincoln had a defensible albeit un-Constitutional rationale for his actions. The current administration has no legitimate defense for PA I or its hellspawn PA II.

Don't we have a patriot missile in our arsenal?....Oh wait.....The Patriot Act....That's the missile we take up the arse isn't it?

Yes, Lincoln and Bush...same camp. But what was his "rationale"?

The GOP of Lincoln has zero DNA in common with the GOP of Bush the Lesser. Arguably Lincoln was operating during a period of profound domestic insecurity which prompted his curtailment of civil liberties. Bush typically says all is right in America while making a rallying call to arms against foreign turrurists at home and abroad . . . typically in the same speech. When the United Colors of Bennetton Threat Alert goes to the top maybe PA I makes sense . . .

Amazing. This forum is finally being supported by clear thinking, level headed inteligent people, not the lemmings of yesteryear. With any luck, this smartness will reveal that the Bush administration is due a major overhaul, to be done in the voting booth in 2004. I hope who ever replaces Bush replaces this patroit act and all its players too.

There are those of us "evil" Republican/Conservatives that do not and did not support the PA.😉

Anyone ever read either one or are you content to let the ACLU and other's do your thinking for you?

What am I saying, most of you have no choice.

I read a bit of the original PATRIOT act. It would take me a month or two to read the entire thing.

Hmmm, could be a nice project for the interim before autumn quarter.

I have read enough to know that it "could" be abused - and that is enough for me. History has shown that gov't will use and abuse powers granted to/supported by it's citizens and do not wish to take that chance.

Just my opinion.

How can you guys not support the Patriot Act or the Victory Act? Are you guys not patriots who want victories?

Because if prior naming conventions by the Bushies are any indication, the act is neither for patriots nor for victory. I know enough about the Patriot Act to know that it's a bad thing (tm). ANY infringement on civil liberties is a bad thing IMHO.
