Poll: Do you support military action against Iraq?

<<

<< Do you support military action against Iraq? >>

I have a better question: Would you support military action against Israel?
>>

😕

hmm, no. Though it would be nice if Isreal wasn't treated like a special country.

I wanted to know how deep your hatred for Israel was.

I don't hate Israel, anymore than I hate palestinians or other middle eastern countries.

They're all assholes.

If I seem anti-israel, its only because people here are overwhelmingly pro-israel.

You mean "treated special" as in forcing restraint while they get suicide bombed?

I mean as in getting aid and weapons no matter what they say or do.

And pray tell, how excactly are they "forcing restraint"? All you ever hear in the news is Israel getting back at palestinians for a suicide bombing, then palestinians getting back at israel with more suicide bombings etc etc etc etc etc etc....

Well, I like Israel, even though I have stated in several posts that I want Israel to abandon the settlements in the West Bank.

EDIT: Oh, and I do have a few relatives who live in Israel.

No no...you misunderstand

I'm just saying that the special treatment isn't necessarily a bad thing because the people who are "treat[ing]" them "special" are also forcing restraint on them...

More dangerous than Iraq, I think is Saudi Arabia. With Saudi Arabia, we should twist the arms of the Saudi princes a bit, perhaps send in the CIA to coerce them to crack down on Islamic radicals, and change their country's @ss backwards Muslim law which is a breeding grounds for anti-American sentiment. 15/19 of the Sept 11 hijackers were Saudis, and the whole thing was financed by a Saudi. Saudi Arabia is the most dangerous state right now.

As for Iraq, don't get me wrong. Saddam Hussein is an evil guy, who would nuke the U.S. 10 times over if he had the chance. But he's just so damn pathetic. He's like the Middle Eastern Fidel Castro. Big on talk, but no action to back it up. Sending in U.S. troops there would be a waste. Rather, we should send in a few CIA agents to assasinate him, just for the hell of it. But, seriously though, Iraq isn't much of a threat. The real danger is Saudi Arabia.

Ah, well, that's a valid point. I don't know how much restraint the US forces on Israel though, if any at all.

Shantanu; you probably right, but i assure you, nothing in the world could damage Saudi Arabia.

Anyway, I dont think military action will solve anything ... why kill more people? Can we all leave peacefully?

There hasn't been an Arab-Israeli war for 20 years...used to be one every decade.

someone wanna tell me the significance of israel? Im sorry Im religious at all, nor do I know the historical background.

I dont really give a damn about Iraq, Sadam is a fvcked up guy and need his ass blown to bits.

There's bits and pieces...Look up the Arab-Israeli wars 48, 56, 67, 73, 82...

My understanding is that the US saw that Israel could hold their own after the six-day war and they needed a foothold in the Middle East anyway...

Very true. They teach children in state-sponsored schools in Saudi Arabia to hate the West. The leaders in Saudi Arabia (some of the richest people in the world) tell the poor people in their country that is the West that is keeping them poor and hungry. We are their scapegoats, and many of them believe it.

No country on the face of the planet wanted to accept the millions of Jewish refugees following WWII, so the UN decided to create a Jewish state in the Middle East.

yes and no, yes if they pull any of the sh*t they tried to pull when they invaded Kuwait and no if they dont do anything else stupid

Although I really would like to see Iraq reduced to an uninhabitable desert (even more so than it is now 😉), I think we'd get the worst end of it. We know Sadaam has all of these biological and nuclear weapons, what makes you think that, if we attecked, they wouldn't use them?

Yes, although I think we should have "finished" the job during the Gulf War, instead of cleaning up the leftovers now.
