i dont care. My needs are more along the magnetic charging line.
And since I got basically that with the Sony Z3 compact, I have nothing to demand.

Wireless charging.

I am so over that. It's slow and when your put your phone down and don't hit the coil (which happens even with three of them) you wake up to a dead phone.

I apparently am a charging terrorist though, so for now I have to stick to wires I plug in with the light on. 🙂

This corded stuff is for the birds. :awe:

whoa, meta. I was asking for your sake, I knew what Qi was. I thought you didn't, which doesn't make sense, because I didn't actually say anything about it in OP.

that said, on my G2 I have installed a Qi charger on the back between my TPU case and the phone chassis

The OP described the logistics pretty well. The cable will flex in one direction more than the other. So technically there is a "right way" and a "wrong way" and its not simply a matter of preference.

so why are so many still doing it the wrong way? HTC Evo V 4G/Evo 3D, LG Nexus 5, Motorola OG Droid, Atrix 4G had it all the wrong way

I use these rubber feet to act as guides for the phone to get easy perfect placement. I recommend getting black ones that match with the Qi pad better. It's very nice to have one right next to your keyboard and to stop thinking about plugging in

that said, yes, they were dumb for not making the optimal location larger. I think the Duracell implementation with a bunch of smaller coils makes more sense, albeit more expensive. very nice

also, unfortunately most of the cheap Chinese pads suck. the ones that don't get discontinued within a year

I like the Palm Pre's TouchStone with magnetic alignment. The Tylt Vu effortlessly aligns with most devices without it. An similarly-designed adjustable stand or car dock doesn't need magnets or careful alignment.

does if you want optimal coupling/minimal heat generation. the Tylt Vu is known to fry the Nexus 5 unless you load it properly

My microUSB cables usually have some kind of bumpy branding/markings on the plug end, so I just feel for that to quickly know whether I have it facing the right way. Still, USB Type-C can't come soon enough.
