Just looking to see. I know there will be a lot of 'no's but I'm really interested. I still think it's a fabulous, underrated game.

Underated? No, it just sucked. And the Carmack pole smokers were too arrogant to admint that UT was a better game.

Yep. Still play the occassional game of Urban Terror from time to time. Much better since 3.1 🙂

I dont know how they did it, but they took Quake 2, the best game of all time, and made a sequal that was no fun whatsoever. It was pretty, dont get me wrong, but just no fun. They MASSACRED CTF, seriously, made it unplayable. The only way Q3 is worth a dime is with Rocket Arena 3.

I totally disagree... and I still have Q2 installed. All I felt was lacking in Q3 was the single-player.

I would rate myself as a gamer, even host lan parties about every 2-4 months, but no, I have never played Quake III, just games that use its engine.

i LOVED q3...enough to go to some events, and watch pro games on QTV (basically watching a demo, cept its kinda real time)
fast paced action and physics was what i liked...lotta people said it was too simple just point and shoot but hardcore guys knew how much timing mattered as well as weapon selection...ON TOP OF GOOD AIM...

spent most of my time on RA3 since i had ZERO strategy for the team games and wasn't that great at 1v1 tourney...
but its a great game...cept near the end of its run they kept changing its physics and stuff

I cant play it for more than a week MAX, it just can't captivate my interest for very long like other games can.

I have been playing Q3 since the hardware test got leaked like four years ago, play at least an hour every day, best game evar!

Sounds like someone has a small penis.

I agree, quake 2 was 20 times better, i still have it installed and played it just earlier today...as for quake 3, that game was just no fun, every one in that game took like 30 hits with a rail gun (ok exageration) but there was no such thing as a 1 shot kill, it was annoying...it seemed like they were in god mode because they could eat 5 rockets and still run around.

Q3 is fun, but doesn't really add anything to Q2.

Q2 was my first fps, and I used to play probably 20 hours a week. So I will always look back on it as one of the greatest games of all time. When I finally upgraded to a new comp that could handle Q3, I played it for awhile. I wasn't really fond of all the eye candy. It seemed to take away from the gameplay. In that respect, I liked Q2 better. Plus, I moved on to games like Rogue Spear, Medal of Honor, and Battlefield 1942. I find the slower pace and the more strategic gameplay to be a lot more fun than any Quake or UT game. I still go back and play Q2 and Q3 once in awhile, but it just isn't as much fun anymore as BF 1942.

the missing single player is what killed it for me. i know now it is much more common but the problem with being ahead of the curve is that a majority of people may not understand or accept what it is you are doing.
it would have been nicer if there was more substance to it.

I never could get into Q3 for whatever reason. We used to play Q2 on LAN all the time at our office, but once Q3 and UT came out we tried both and ending up going with UT. Q3 seemed to have nicer graphics, but for some reason we just enjoyed the gameplay in UT much much more.

I never really got into either at home though. My personal game of choice during that time was the TFC mod for Half-Life. I need to reinstall that . . .
